The plan is to follow the NASA rules for the cage. The NASA rules are based on the FIA WRC requirements and will ensure that it meets the common requirements of all rally series here in the US. From there it will be a matter of getting the car inspected and logbooked.
This is also the reason that using the cage builder outside of Boston is appealing instead of the guy up the road. The guy in Boston has experience building FIA compliant rally car cages. I just don't know what his availability is yet and don't want to talk to him until I have a schedule from the bodyshop.

The car went to the bodyshop this morning. I'll have an estimate for the work sometime next week.

It was an expensive day... Seats, harnesses, and seat mounts.
Budget? Buying the shortblock for the motor has been the biggest overage. Otherwise, everything has been pretty close. Well see where things stand after getting the quote from the bodyshop. Although today was painful, it was planned.

The shoulder belts will wrap around a bar on the cage. The lap belts will either go to the stock locations or through the floorpan with backing plates. The anti-submarine belts will either go through the floorpan with backing plates or wrap around a bar that goes in as part of the roll cage.

How much you think this car will weigh? You can bring it over to the paper mill and we will weigh it for you if you want when its all said and done.

Around 3000 lbs. Weighing the car wouldn't hurt. I'm somewhat in the market for a set of scales so I can corner weigh the car. However, scales are reasonably expensive.

The car is progressing at the bodyshop. It came off of the frame machine yesterday. It is currently waiting on a new rear quarter panel and some paint. I also need a hood. Anybody out there have a line on a good used hood for an 02 to 03 WRX?

The body is going into the paint booth today. It will be back home on Monday or Tuesday.
