Vin, Michael is in for the 200l Drum so between the fours of us it works out nicely.
I managed to find a set of Toyo R1R's in 255/35/18. Apparently they don't make them anymore so was lucky to get them... |

I did a quick search on those tyres and they seem to be really good performance tyres. I like the tread on them, they look very meaty. From what I read they seem a bit like the RE-11's as priority is given to performance and dry grip with less regard for economy and noise. Here is a review I found on your exact size but on an AWD Evo IX http://octanereport.com/tech/parts-r...r1r-tires.html |

Im back Timeslip is attached 12.275 @ 112.73mph with a 1.806 60ft
I had a half a drum of race fuel sitting in the garage, and unfortunately no matter how much I tried to waste my pump fuel on the way there, still had a quarter of a tank of 98 fuel in the tank I only ran the race map 7 twice (out of 6 runs), and it was only slightly faster than Map 2 (ran a 12.300 on map 2), definitely didnt feel like the last time I ran 100% race fuel so I called it a night as I was worried running map 7 might not be too good without using pretty much 100% race fuel. Adrian, I dont think the fuel actually gives you an extra 50kw, but it does allow you to run more boost than if you are just on pump fuel (Meth is not installed at the moment). Meth effectively does the same thing (allows you to up the boost) so running them both together wont give much extra benefit. Definitley looking forward to another drag day

Well done Michael!!
Very nice 60 foot, and that is certainly the standout thing of your run. What tyres were you using, and any tips on how you achieved it? I agree that to benefit from race fuel you need to run more aggressive (more boost/timing/leaner), and that meth does the same thing, so little need for both except for safety. However I doubt that you could get anywhere near 50kW extra unless you were not running optimally (low boost) before. More like 20kW I would say. Adrian Quote:

Definitely has felt quicker up top before than on that night. Previous runs (before LSD and tyres) with 100% race fuel my trap speed was up around 117-118mph (compared to the 112 in that run) I have Bridgestone re-11 tyres now. These combined with the LSD definitely helped my 60ft heaps! I only got used to how much grip it had in my last 3 runs, and my 60ft got lower each time. Still haven't worked out how many revs it can hold before losing traction off the line, but that run was holding it at 2500rpm with a 1st gear launch. Still think it may have a little more in the launch to be honest, only time will tell!

Why only 12.5psi? I would have expected you could run 14-15psi pretty easily without race fuel. Certainly you could see a 30-40kW benefit with adding race fuel and another 3.5psi. I am just surprised you are running such low boost currently, and that explains your trap speed loss. I will generally run 15-16psi on 98 RON with down pipes.
Nice job on the the 60 foot with road tyres. I need AWD to better that (but not by much) in my WRX with road tyres. Best I have done in a BMW manual is a 1.9-2.0 and I thought that was pretty good. I saw a WRX run recently with drag tyres for a 1.39... Wow!! |

map 2 should be 14.5psi and map 7 (race map) should be 16.5psi but does require race fuel which you had so I dont understand why your boost was only 12.5psi.

What an astounding short time! 1.80x .. that will stand for a long time with street radials.

Your peak boost is way too low Michael. I wonder if you somehow defaulted back to 12.5psi as a safety from the JB4? I know that is what happens with meth, if the FSB interferes you switch back to 12.5psi.

Hmmm... Will have to go for a drive later then, but boost gauge definitely only showed 12.5psi, unless the gauge is wrong?
To be honest I've never seen Map 2 hit 14psi?

providing my car is over 70 degrees I can hit 14psi pretty easily according to my boost gauge. Michael you should run a map 2 log, do a 3rd gear pull and wind it all the way out. Make sure you do this on a safe test track of course but this will tell the whole story. Send it to me if you like and ill take a look at it for you.

haha well there is no way ill grab the top spot without an LSD. I reckon we are all in for a bit of a shock as to how hard it is to crack into the 11s but only time will tell!

I'll hit the track as soon as I get my meth kit fully functional. If I don't hit 11s consistently in the near future I'll be Once Adrian or Justin run their RB 135i down the 1/4 we all have no chance of being #1 lol |

Matt, I plan to do some more testing tomorrow and hopefully get to the bottom of it. I've spent the last month troubleshooting and I've made no progress, it seems like maintaining meth is a full time job in itself

Ok no worries ill probably do some work on mine on the weekend. I think once we have found the problem and fixed it then it wont be a big job maintaining the kit, all we will have to do is simply top it up when we run out of meth.
