Given that the parts from an M LSD would be the cheaper option than an aftermarket diff, it does seem like a bit more labor is required. Wouldn't labor costs being more expensive offset the cheaper M LSD making it roughly the same as getting an aftermarket diff? Or is it still cheaper despite the more intensive labor costs??

135i takes the GS6-53BZ i wonder how 1M owners feel knowing their transmission has a lower torque rating than the 135i? :P Quote:
it's still cheaper. Last edited by flinchy; 07-13-2013 at 06:48 AM.. |

still trying to sort shipping on the rear axle kit... then i realized, and found, a cheap M3 front hub/brake/etc. setup now i'm having a dillemma, to sell most of the 135i brake stuff i finally just got 99% of the parts for (and spent a fair shitload on -_-) and go full 1M/M3, brakes, suspension, the lot...... or ditch the rear m3 hubs/brakes, and (i believe) toe arms... :/ |

In regards to the brakes, you need to take into account that our master brake cylinder is not the same as the one from the M3. I believe the 335i is the same as the M3 but not the 135i. |

i do check the pics on realoem, but every pic is the same (135i, 130i, M3, 7er, 5er) lol OR they're different, but the same flange still to my eye -_- ED: oho wait, 135i doesn't have a flange, just 'inserted' where the V8 ones have 4 bolts or something? thanks though, as long as i know the E38/E39 (at first i thought they were too old, before i re-read this thread -_-) i was confused for a while, i still have no idea what the physical difference even is! haha Quote:
http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...27&hg=34&fg=27 335i has the same master cylinder as 135i/130i/ever E8x and E9x only M3/1M share master cylinder/servo's Last edited by flinchy; 07-17-2013 at 07:20 PM.. |

i'd be happy to get new (or wreck partout) master cyl + servo for the upgrade? it's about $500 shipped for the front brakes/hubs/spindles (found a couple of auctions)/shocks/springs (not that i want them) and with 'new' prices being $350-$400 for MC/servo... could probably find a wreck and get it much more reasonably. and some new pads on top of the full rear axle, it'd be say $1-1.2k, and i have a full bolt-on 135i (for non 135i) brake setup that i'd then have to sell lol (inc rear hubs for non-135i) so it's either i sell the M3 rear hubs/toe arms/calipers/rotors and keep all the 135i stuff or keep the m3 rear hubs/arms/calipers/rotors, get M3 front suspension/brakes, master cylinder and servo, and sell the 135i stuff... |

i don't think any amount of parts would allow MDM due to the DME not having it? i'm not a fan of the computer cutting anything at all, unless i'm on the street. |

when you can get other modules that will allow you to do launch control anyway (manual setup)
and those sorts of assists even fail on M3's when they mod for higher power it just sounds too complex to get working right really haha i'd rather go slightly slower without any computer aid, than have the car half drive for me in effect. |

Well there is nothing really special its just like on older e46 M3 Mtrack mode which sets traction control for 10-15 percent and allows you to drift more and more sharp angles.
I'm not sure but maybe it is possible to flash current DSC module with M3 software. Also it is possible to increase pressure of current master cylinder through coding. |

i'm just someone who'd prefer to have complete control, for better or worse ... plus i'm already having to work out/learn WAY too much stuff to add this to it too :P if you can flash DTC modules, i can't see why not, assuming you can get the firmware number and wire up the button and stuff? anything is possible if you can work it out. ... really? you can increase master cylinder pressure through coding? i've never heard that one before, cool! haaa, yeah, that looks pretty nice :P |

aghh, true.. haha ok, i'll take some photos after work sometime when i manage to get home during daylight hours -_-.. not that there's much to show other than the engine more naked still on the ground (seriously, anyone got a crane they want to sell? i'll come pick it up this week if it's in good nick/will fit in the back of a 1er)
really i'm waiting on parts that still don't exist now.. head+main studs and such which are coming to market in the next 2-3 weeks~ then send the block to probably Bayside performance and i've gotta find the time to get the head cleaned off and down to cylinder head warehouse/PLR for quotes ... then i have to wait for valvetrain stuff to be made (coming eventually from ABR, as with the studs/internals) and THEN... buy all the extra ancillary crap needed (funnily enough, i keep realizing something else every few weeks.. i have a good list) a ways off, but ever closer. in terms of ACTUAL progress though .. well, either this weekend or next weekend HOPEFULLY i'll have the 135i brake swap done.. as my rear pads are absolutely shot (i'm having to compression brake waaaaay more than i used to for peace of mind hahahah) as i have every part bar handbrake shoes (eh why not), new caliper bolts (oops), and a bearing separator. so i figured i should put some pics up here finally hah
'spare room' thought it was an interesting pic of the carbon buildup on cyl 6, about 3x thicker/higher than any other valve. disgusting. was wondering how much these were if i damaged one... for $45 each, they're being kept nice and safe and sealed... almost where it stands now... all that's left is the crank casing, crank+internals, vac pump + those pulleys aaand flywheel. then i have to take the head around and get some quotes, once i've got the new valves from the states from alex@ABR finally managed to breaker bar off the damn crank bolt/get the oil pump out this arvo. christmas is a bit of a roadblock, kinda hoped to have it ready to go in so i could work on my few weeks of holidays.. turns out i'm barely getting any holidays anyway, so i'll take some more to get it done sometime probably. |

Looks like it's coming along!
How many kms are on your engine? Just curious because of the amount of carbon build up on the valves.
