Great result Beric!
Do you know what water temps you were getting and have you confirmed this caused the limp issue?

Not sure of temp as Motec didn't log it. We will be puling the car apart and then doing more testing with fans and then at the track, taping the front up.

Great video. You don't muck about on the first lap!
Looks like you're running the standard diff ratio (you're only using 2nd - 4th as I do at QR). I guess this is a class requirement? With all the torque that the N54's got, this isn't a huge issue.

Correct standard diff ratio, we only use 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear at QR. Can't wait for Phillip Island and Bathurst at least we'll use 5th and maybe 6th.

Water Temp
In race 1 we had no temp issues or limp modes. However we did follow Holt off the circuit at turn 3 in the night, sitting on his back bumper.
We think this is when the radiator in front left has been filled with dirt and stopped allowing air through and then stopped cooling. As the race started at 6.30pm in the cool of the night we didn't get any faluts. However race 2 started at the end of the day in some heat and we would get limp mode after following a car for a short period of time (reduced power). When doing a full check over back at the workshop we found this radiator blocked completely. We blew the dirt out from the back and were amazed as to how much dirt there was. Lesson learned is we'll clean after each session and in 12 hour at Bathurst we'll blow it out during pitstops to be sure. No faults logged in the car. We are fitting an old school temp guage until we get the Motec reading fully and correctly. This will allow us to monitor temps in testing. Planning to test in early October, summer heat will be a good test. |

Yes Yoko Advan AO50's Medium. Front 245/40/18 Rear 265/35/18. We still have room on back rim so we are gonig to try 285/30/18. We went from 255/40/18's to the 265 in qualifying. Didn't change any rear tyres in either race. Only put a new (roaded) front on in race 2 around lap 42. |
