+1. My car is worth so much more than it's dollar value on paper. I have a winter/DD SUV which I can take onto construction sites for work (did that once/never again with an E90 LOL. Not to mention my peers on the Contractors side tend to warm up to sooner when you don't show up in a sports car haha) Quote:
The rest of you arguing over financial advice and nest eggs for job loss, come to Canada! We have health care for all, unemployment insurance which actually pays you, and banks that are dying to give you money. Translation... more car fun But in all seriousness, I kid. Financial security is very important, the above list has it's flaws, and we're burned just as hard by this economic crash as the States is.

Aah, the fifth grade - 3 of the best years of my life!
Couple other things: It is not a good idea to put money down on a lease. If you have to lease, just pay monthly as you go. If anything happens to the car - stolen or whatever - the downpayment is gone forever and will not be recovered. Also: thanks for the video. That guy is a good driver. The thing about driving in the winter is knowing what to do when the wheels start slipping or the thing starts going sideways. This is actually very good practice and everyone should do it when there's an opportunity on a clear parking lot e.g. |

I had dinner with a successful couple new years eve. We were talking about what car they were going to buy for their kid in a few years. I suggested lease like the couple does. I pointed out the wife's Lexus that just went back. The one that was hit with massive hail, rear ended twice, and sideswiped while parked. you want that three year old Lexus? I thought so. What could she have sold it for? What did she get? Exactly what the contract said (which was more than you or I would have paid), and all she had to do was drop it off at the dealer for the repairs. She didn't have to check on the quality of the repairs. Tell me again why leasing is for fools.

I grew up driving in the snow. Tahoe winters. Incredibly fun & I believe it made me a better driver without a doubt.
I've never leased a car. :-O |
