Thanks for the suggestion, I'll play around making small incremental changes.

Something is wrong with both those system, its not reacting correctly. Both loop system are wrong. Not your fault just not a proper control system from COBB

I sorta figured that josh and its probably not your responsibility at all as the values you change don't affect the part that needs to change in order to correct this.
In the first graph shown. HPFP Actual first follows the requested nicely, the initial slopes are close not perfect, but close. However the % overshoot is also pretty bad, bc of this your settling time is then terrible and finally the ecu grabs control and plays nice. This could be from a bad second-order equation or the data rate at which the ecu is requesting or a delay in the actuator. Just think for 1,000 rpms the ecu doesn't have solid control over it. given that its a single second-order response, The damping ratio is to low. In the end its under damped while it should be critically dampened. Again Josh you probably have no control over this, and this is better then the boost control. Now with the boost, the ecu is trying to to play catch up, at which then it over shoots. The % overshoot is better but not ideal. This one is most likely a second-order system that is again under-dampened. But then cant even meet the requirements. Towards the end we will assume that there aren't enough supporting mods to meet the required set point. Both systems don't looked finished to be honest. Here is a book that will help you fix this or better understand it. http://www.amazon.com/Control-System...em+engineering

Hi all,
I have a 2011 135i w/ DCT and just took my car in for service and so I took off my cobb. Now they told me they did a bunch of software updates released last week. Should I be worried about this? I think I heard something about every time a new update is released I have to wait u til Cobb makes a compatible tune, is this correct? What should I do to find out if my tune is compatible. According to the SA it's a new update that came out last week.

plug your AP in and see if you have an "unrecognized ROM" if so you will need to do the ROM dump on their website.. if you dont just download you ROM specific OTS Maps to your AP and your good to go... im pretty sure the most recent BMW ROM for our N55s is 98F0B.. and they already support it |

Not a problem at all bro, thats what we are all on this forum for... sharing and gaining knowledge... and to my knowledge the AP should store your stock map or an extremely similar "picture" of that map and uses it when you flash back to stock map... so with that being said, i believe it should have stored your PPK flash as the "stock" base map... also, remember the car needs to recalibrate itself persay whenever you flash the ECU.. So you may have just dropped a lot of hp by flashing it back and the car hadnt readjusted itself to all the new parameters... people chime in please, i may be wrong |

Anyone running Torco Accelerator on the RACE 100+ Octane map yet? Or any other map or custom tune?
I prefer race fuel over ethanol blends, and I have had HUGE gains in the past cars with the Torco Accelerator mixture with 93 octane. Im really curious to see if it would work with the COBB map... COBB told me to just take a bunch of logs and give it a go. Kind of nervous... lol |

When I actually uninstalled cobb I believe it went back to PPK because 1) I still had the exhaust burbling from PPK (admittedly a circumstantial way of gauging whether PPK is there or not), 2) my SA probably didn't say anything (again, circumstantial), and 3) my butt dyno felt it was stronger than stock (I think there's a pattern in my reasoning here). I agree with turbo1 about the DME not recalibrating/adapting to your driving since you had just reflashed it with a new map when you uninstalled Cobb (based on conversations with the BMW shop foreman). So I present you my circumstantial evidence. Maybe someone could confirm/debunk this in a more technical way? Cobb? |

Search led me to this thread but I am not going through 71 pages of posts.
Question..... Does the AP have the ability to shut the CEL off after install of the DP? I didn't see anything pertaining to it on the Cobb site. Thanks

Most of the activity here is for the N55 engine, looks like you have a 2009 with a N54, N54 did not show the CEL.

Same feeling, only I have no Pedal box. I feel the car does rev slightly faster across the board, but the input is delayed so its moot from a heel toe | blip perspective. Whether this is the 980FB rom and reprogramming or Cobb tune I don't know. My guess would be the former. I know that prior to the reflash the throttle response | blip was much faster, maybe not quick heel | toe fast but better than now. I have driven the car hard for +300 miles in hopes of the "learning" factor but progress is SLOW! My interest is in the lower rpm ranges in particular SO COBB....WHEN WILL WE SEE LINEAR OR PERHAPS AN EVEN SHARPER THROTTLE RESPONSE?

^ don't have any before numbers for dyno or 1/4 mile.
I can say that although the original number was done with an Iphone app bone stock 2011 6MT N55 the best 0-60 i could consistently pull was 4.8-4.9. With only the AP on STG1 Aggressive I'm hitting 4.5 consistently with a best of 4.2! Only tried a 1/4 mile once and got 13.2 at 109 and thats with a horrible 2.3 60'. Someone who really knows how to launch this car as a 6MT should be able to hit the high 12's easy on STG1 Aggressive. All measurements after the COBB install were done on the AP reading direct from the ECU | OBD

Would love to know what a 2+ n55 lays down....so go tear it up and report back.
I have no idea if the AP performance measurements are dead accurate but considering they come from the cars ecu or internal data I would think speed and distance are close. Time would be handled by the AP itself. The only time Ive heard the cars speedo is inaccurate is above 120-140 mph and that was referring to the actual analog "gauge" rather than a number from the ecu. On another note what about octane increase with the n55 AP. Is anybody running race gas like VP100 or octane booster with stage 1 aggressive? I always run 93 but wondering about a mix with VP100 or MS109 I've heard it takes timing adjustments to take advantage of race gas?

Thanks thats more what I was wondering about. I did a few runs at stage 2+(n54 though) and I was getting 12.2-12.4 1/4 I was launching in second though and still losing traction on the runflats. my best 0-60 was 3.8 with most being 4 even. my 60' were normally in the 2.4-2.6 range. I just was wondering how close those would be to taking it to a track. Sounds like that would be pretty accurate. Next step need some new better tires. I tried a few launches with the E30 tune and was getting worse times because even in second I had no traction at all.

My personal best on a real track with 93 octane and Stage 2+ Aggressive was a 12.354@117mph with a 2.171 60ft and on stock runflats. |
