Removed front bumper, coolant reservoir, boost pipe + turbo inlet, broke the mounting tab on the turbo inlet, so I got out the super glue and glued it back together. Then went online and ordered a new turbo inlet and boost pipe 😂. I also ordered a new fender liner and engine splash shield. Got the front bumper back on so she'd survive the incoming rain for the next 72hrs. Few more days downtime...

I'm also considering if I should order an Android screen for the dash, I really like the clean look of the old controls but sometimes it would be convenient to have a bit more modern head unit. Thoughts on this unit? Seicane stereo |

Usability is great. There's some random quirks here and there since it's android based and it is a device so it has to do things differently than say a car head unit, but it works how I use it well. I just use it for the bigger screen, touch screen and apple car play. I've been messing around with bm3 and BimmerLink monitoring which is nice but it's a little tedious to set up. Other than that I definitely think it's worth it. I spec'd mine out to 750, but on the e82 we're looking around 560 if I recall

I think I might be crazy, but I just bought a 3D printer and I'm going to try to design a lid for my air intake box with my BMS intake.. and maybe some bigger airscoops? 🤦‍♂️ I'm probably losing my mind.

I’m not sure about that unit in particular but I think those aftermarket Android units are pretty mature (read: copied and beta tested in the wild for years…) at this point. They seem pretty interesting.

Finally have full TPMS again. I had ordered new sensors from FCP and had them put on with the new wheels/tires but they didn't work. Then I noticed that the fitment info indicated they were for 2011 models built from 9/2010 and mine was built in 6/2010. After several weeks driving around with an inactive system, finally got the correct sensors installed today. Yes, I know it is very Type A but I can't stand to be driving around with a warning light on the dash.

Ordered a new stereo/head unit system today. I went with an Android unit - the CarNaviPlayer:
I have a similar type Dynavin unit in my E91 and like it; however, Dynavin does not make one for the E82 any longer. I decided against a regular aftermarket double-DIN unit for a number of reasons - cost, complexity, and aesthetics. The head unit, the new bezel, and all the other things necessary to make it fit would have been much more expensive. Getting all the disparate parts to work together and with the car is always a hassle. And, finally, I just don't like the look of the HVAC unit on top and the stereo down low. I considered the CarNaviPlayer, the Belsee and one from Seicane. I like the way the CarNaviPlayer has designed it to complement the other dash components (i.e., buttons have same shape). Anyway, it is ordered and starting June 14th I officially will be retired and get to spend a lot more quality time in the garage, doin' car stuff.

Surprisingly easy to fix the wear in the leather surface. Was actually worse than I showed in the pic, I took the pic after repairing about 50% of the worn area. |

I just ordered a repair kit from Colourlock on Amazon. We'll see how it goes. My BMW Performance springs are on back order, so this will keep me busy in the meantime.
