Believe the wheel is a manual control for levelling.
Our xenon equipped cars self-level.

I ordered this one a few years ago from Schmiedmann, for my 2012 with self-levelling xenons.

Finally got the 255’s mounted and spent the good part of the day making adjustments to have them fit. I’m so close right now, no rubbing on the shock, no rubbing on the fender from lock to lock, almost barely touching the spot where the bumper and fender meet , and during a test drive just the tiniest bit of rubbing when going over bumps. I’ll probably raise the coils a smidge tomorrow just for peace of mind so I can make it to mpact east this weekend without losing any panels on the drive up.

So, over the past several days The Wife & I were down in SoFla visiting her dad to celebrate both their birthdays.

Think I ended up with the best present.

Well..... Yeah, so there I was, minding my own business when it, um......, you know, kinda followed me home... :P

2021 GTI mk7.5, Dark Iron Blue Metallic, 18,000 miles, 7 speed DSG, Performance Pack and A spiffy set of the OE black Pretoria wheels (wrapped in some semi-crappy all season Pirelli's).

Included a couple dealer pics of the interior cause I haven't taken any yet.

(Geeeez, sooooo many more cars to shop in SoFla compared to Tallahassee! Wow!)

Yeah, sadly the 135 will probably be listed for sale soon I suspect... Is one of those "the longer I wait, the more I can correct, the more I can charge" kinda things...

I've had the 1er for over seven years now, and I've been lightly poking around for alternatives for a while. Funny thing is I really did just stumble across the GTI while we were down south, and it was the DIB color that did me in initially.

I got my Cobb AccessPort today and loaded their OTS stage 1 tune, and have an OBDEleven on the way so I can talk to the car and have it behave the way I want it to. Not really planning on doing much else to this one!

I've always been a GTI fan, this is my second one, the first being an APR tuned MK4. I'm pretty tickled to grab a '21 mk7.5, supposedly best of breed before the all touch screen mk8 came out...

I fucking live again!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Car hadn't ran since 7/30 due to the CAS module taking a shit. Fixed it through an eBay seller named unique09. First paid for repair service but mine was too far gone so I had to pay the difference on a cloning service for $50 more. Same seller helped me as Desertman123. Finally no more soul destroying Ford Escape and its weak 1.6 turbo motor. Huzzah!!

Now I need a wash for the BMW dealer's cars and coffee in the morning.

Drove the 1er today after 2 weeks without....

lol, geez, this thing is such a thug/hooligan/hoodlum/hoon!

Between travel away from home, and then driving the new to me GTI, it's been a minute since I put mah butt in the 135. And, wow, it was a total blast jumping in the 135 to run errands today

Nice enjoy!
I had a Mk7 Autobhan, loaded but with the plaid cloth seats.
Was a really fun, and also surprisingly reliable car.

I also had a tuned MK4 GTI 1.8T back in 01-06

Hell of a Monday!

I recently did a wheel stud conversion…
Everything done to spec etc.
Took the car out for a spin and did another thorough inspection afterwards…
I drive my car to work this morning(approximately 20/25 miles away)and it seemed like it wouldn’t track straight…
Weird…I thought, but my spider-sense was telling me to do a check when I get to work(I work in a car shop/slash office building)just in case…

I get out of the car after parking and one wheel stud is gone!!
I thought, well damn, one wheel stud is gone…

I go and drop my stuff off inside and come back out with a torque wrench and a bottle of “please don’t let the shit hit the fan today” juice…

Long story short, five were loose…
After attempting to confirm that they were torqued to speck…those same five broke and got to drive home in the front seat…

Got home, took the remaining off and reinstalled my lug bolts…

I need a new rear hub/bearing because while installing the stock bolts…in my haste, I stripped and snapped a bolt(tbh, that particular rear hub needed a tap for the threads anyway and I never got around to doing it!)

And now the bad news…
I had to take leave for the day and I got stung by a bee!

Sorry for the long post!

One of the bolts had rust inside(as you can see from the pic)…
Is that normal/fine?

I bought this conversion kit from Vargas Turbo btw!

No, polish and waxing will be coming soon. I have to park outside, and it's raining daily so i'll wait closer to the weekend.

I never understood why people do this, excuse my bias but I always put this in the category of unsafe ricer gimmicks like giant aero, spacers, or fake carbon fiber trim. Little to no functional benefit, but many downsides/risk. Just mount wheel with normal bolts, doesn't take any longer.

I mostly agree with you but I do wonder why some manufacturers do lug nuts vs lug bolts. Every other car I've owned had nut/stud combos (all Jap and USA) IIRC recently Lexus switched to lug bolts solely for the IS350 and 500 as a performance enhancement, which I believe I read about in Car and Driver or Motor Trend. I would like to switch to nut/studs now because I have painted calipers. I learned real quick that with my spacers I would bounce the wheels off the calipers and now they already look like crap due to all the scuff marks. I got some wheel pins to help but studs would be more helpful.
Otherwise ricer crap but to each their own.

Had this conversation the other day.
Why do most euro manufacturers use bolts instead of studs/nuts? Is there any functional benefit to the consumer?
I've only ever owned cars with lugs, and they're a PITA.

Nothing like having the inside of the wheel bounce off of a sharp brake dust shield.

My understanding is that lug bolts are used primarily because they're less expensive. Sure, only a penny or so each, but thousands at a time turns into serious $$ pretty quick. There's also an increase in flexibility for the wheels used- alum vs steel may require a thicker mount surface- easy & inexpensive to just use longer bolts.

For outright strength, studs are used. Think semi's or anything in the large tonnage range, they all use studs.

As for the difference between the US using studs and Euro using bolts is basically just the way it's always been done- no real reason, much like stuff at work not changing- dunno why we do it this way, is just the way we've always done it...

The thing to remember is that there are a CRAP TON of shitty wheel studs out there in the aftermarket "upgrade" offerings...
