By the way fuel economy is also affected by the weight removal and fuel economy would go up. The 1m is nothing more than a 335is powerplant in a 1 series body with the m3 suspension, wheels and some new bodywork. I had a 2008 335i with the first and very strong n54 powerplant, currently have a 2012 135i dct with BMW performance power kit and there is no way in hell that the n54 or n55 engines are a better power plant to the s65. Just turn both cars on in the morning in a parking garage and tell me what engine you prefer. I had the chance to do ED on a 1m, did ED on the m3. No regrets, you can't Compare the two. If the s65 were in a lighter package, with the same marvelous suspension and real brakes you would have an automotive legend that could compete with the prancing horse. |

All wrong but I guess that doesn't matter as long as it makes sense to the writer and his audience. In that sense that is very well put indeed.
No need to hijack this thread which is about the awesome job that the OP managed by using and abusing his personal success as a yet another attack in the lines of "1M is not a real M car" bs. Start another thread for that please, there are enough that you can copy for a starter. And people who owns the both cars will answer your all wrong statements there, in detail. This car is not a 1M, also not a M3. It is equally wrong to say that this is how the 1M should be, don't you see that you could say the exact same about the M3? This was the real M3, the M3 as it should be! Obviously the OP is a fan of the M3 but not much of the body style or he just liked the way 1M looks better or maybe because of the base 1 series he had he thought it would be better/easier to transform it to look like the 1M. Just a choice. Everyone has choices; I wouldn't buy the 1M if it would have the S65, believe it or not, your problem. But, I would buy the M3 sedan in 2008 if it would have the size-weight and shape of the 1M though. Why it hurts everyone that the 1M is equally fast and even more engaging and visceral than a M3? Isn't it supposed to be? Why exactly this bothers people that much, especially in US, outside US there is no such prejudice against the 1M. |

The 1 series is also twitchy when pushed, in comparison to the M3 due to the shorter wheelbase. The 1m is the next step up on the 135i an M3 is a totally different animal. |

Amazing job on this swap!
Now this is a real M car and what the 1M should have been. It's hilarious all the 1M owners chiming in and hating on this now. To whoever asked about the engine weight: The S65 weighs only 15 lbs more than the N54. But also keep in mind the S65 is much shorter than the N54 so it would sit farther back in the engine bay and also not having the weight of any turbo components like intercooler even farther forward. So this car would have a better weight distribution than an N54 1M. See my engine weighs guide for more engine weight info: http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=233682 |

Thanks everybody for the supportive and encouraging comments.
Really sorry I did not reply to some of you guys as I was really busy the Last couple of days preparing the car for the red bull drift competition. Car is sponsored by a major German oil company and will be driven by A very professional race driver who has already won the competition last Year. I will post the car pics after being prepared for the race, and will also Post some videos showing the performance and handling of the car during The race. For those who are fond of car racing , stay tuned.. As for the comparison between the original 1m and the v8 1m, I intend to do a real life comparison between both cars together with the e92 m3. Comparison will be held , Analyzed and judged by a professional driver. Will catch you soon guys, thanks again |

Enjoy your suped up 135i and I will enjoy one of the greatest cars bmw has ever made. I will also enjoy my suped up 135i for its increased fuel efficiency and torque. When I want to smile from ear to ear, I will drive my M3. I have three cats by the way.
