Did it say unrecognized vehicle? If so, follow their instructions to download your ECU's data to the Accessport. You will then need to e-mail them that file because you have an unrecognized ROM.

I had the same thing happen to me. I am waiting for their update before I can install.

As you know they are new to the BMW game so I figured that we would experience some of these problems along the way. However, I am sure that it will payoff in long run.

I don't really know the process but my guess is that there are little differences to many of the ECU's that that is why we are getting this error. Cobb obviously knew about this because they built in the process to send them the ROM data for each of our ECU's.

Maybe someone from Cobb can chime in an explain this error in further detail.

Just be patient.

I had the same thing happen to me on the firmware release -1190 to -1209(?) where it didn't say unrecognized ROM and let me get to almost install the maps. The problem was that the only maps that were available or shown was for the AT. Thought I saw the firmware push back to -1144 today, which if you try to install off that I would get the Unrecognized ROM message. Looks like they are working on it, it's just hard to be patient after dropping the cash. Hopefully it won't take long. Hope that helps.

I think it is annoying that you need to send your AP back to COBB for reprograming while all piggy back systems (like JB3 & 4) continue to work even after a software reflash.

I find it a bit annoying as well. It's gonna be about 3 weeks before I get to try my cobb ap out. 1 week to ship, got it today, had to email ecu info today, another week, car goes in for service on the 28th, most likely i'm going to have to send in another rom, another week. i should have about a week to see if im really satisfied with the product. based on the first 3 weeks of owning the cobb ap(i consider owning from the time my money is debited) i cannot recommend it to anyone. however, once i do get it running, i'm sure i won't be able to stop recommending it to others. Cobb dudes, sticker is NOT going on my car till my ap works!!

Seems like more and more ROMs are unsupported recently, I wonder why? Could it be from new dealer flashes? Either way, it's the price you gotta pay when your an early adopter for anything. What kind of taste it leaves in your mouth in the end is determined by how much s#*t you really end up going through. Sometimes it's not so bad and others you just don't want anything to do with by the end of it all. I am optimistic that these will be minor hiccups at the front then pay out as time goes on.

Thats the price you pay for flash tunes (Cobb, GIAC, Dinan). With the constant ECU/DME updates that BMW puts out it's a pita. That being said I'm looking foward to owning the AP or ATR. As far as the logs I've seen and the disscussions I've read this is gonna be an awesome DIY at home tune. Every tune had to start somewhere (remember the JB1 and the V1 which weren't PNP) and I believe this tune just needs some time to work out the kinks.

I had my 2010 135i in for service last week including the latest BMW software update, installed the AP today. I was half expecting unsupported ROM but no issues at all. For those who are waiting, trust me it's worth it!

Danny,

I was told that my dyno graphs would be uploaded to a database for viewing. Can you direct me to that site?

Also, I pulled off the airbox lid for first time since buying the car to have a look at the stock filter. It is in terrible shape. I do believe with a clean and high flowing filter my gains would have been better.

If thats with EVERYTHING else stock, you could slap in a clean aftermarket slide in filter and gain about another 10whp for sure, a dirty filter, specially a stock one can indeed draw a few noticeable hp away.

If I was gonna run with a sweet tune like this with raised boost, I would def invest in an aftermarket FMIC, chargepipe/bov and DCI in that order. You will def see great benefit from all those with such a tune, and even more probably after COBB releases their mod specific stage 2 maps.
