In response to the OP about purchasing a different set of wheels, if it were myself, I would look for a set of BBS LM's in the same sizes as the comp. wheels that came with the car. IMO, these are some great looking wheels, and since they are made by BBS you know they would be of high quality and durable to boot. They are pricey, but I believe you stated price was not an issue.

"He also dropped that this would occur because....there is more under that pedal than might be printed in a brouchure"
- is this implying that the car is underrated in hp and torque?

If anyone is doing a group buy on a set of LM's, count me in.

To me this is one of the very best posts I have seen since my quest for an 1M began.

Thanks for the great information, keep it coming.
+10^6

After all the hype of the last year, and then the interminable allocation wait, my enthusiasm had certainly waned. However, the OP's story has rekindled that interest and he deserves a lot of credit for putting together such a compelling record of his ED experience.

Note to Scott26: he's providing excellent marketing for BMW at no cost - can't you spare a little change and get this guy free wifi access or something?

To the very lucky OP--GREAT write up so far. The pics and insight have been very very good--the kind of info that people here are dying to hear about.

Thanks again for taking the time--I must say I wouldn't have left the car yet.

Since power curves are not typically documented in brochures, the reference is taken to mean that the listed numbers are low.

Nice update and the dedication by finding a open network! Good to know BMW cares about the customer and set up that meeting with M Engineers! Enjoy the rest of your trip!
