Finally drove her after a month! And threw on some LCI taillights to accompany the LCI headlights.

Spent the last 3 weeks in CA driving various cars. So when I drove the 1 again I forgot how glorious it felt. Truly nothing beats a bmw in the driving feel.

Mild success maybe. Got a bunch of gunk out. Broke the drain plug/control sleeve. So TBD on if it actually worked.

Not today, but Saturday did my first winter rally. Snowy and dirt roads made for some fun sideways driving. Only 1 other non AWD car in the novice group and we came in middle of the pack. People couldn't believe we tried it in the 128 but other than 1 checkpoint on a snowy uphill where it took us a bit to get going, never had a problem. Really like the Vredestein Wintrac tires. Car is coated in mud and salt and now with subfreezing temps it will stay that way for a bit.

lol, people seem to have forgotten that rally was dominated by RWD cars before Audi showed up with the S1.

The lumbar support retrofit is great. The seats are so much more comfortable, especially on long drives.

I'm out of town at the moment, but I'll check at home on the weekend for the part numbers.

The parts depend on the original equipment on your car. Do you have manual or power sport seats? It gets crazy expensive if you do the retrofit entirely with new OEM parts. I took a few months and scoured the online salvage yards for some of the parts.

There are a couple of DIYs elsewhere on this forum showing how to do this. One user rigged up his own wiring harness, but I didn't trust myself not to screw that up, so I ordered an OEM wiring harness from BMW.

I'll look up what I have and send it to you this weekend.

I'm not sure... I'm a bit worried that I'm on borrowed time doing this again (I did it 2 years ago using tap water from spigot) and will need to replace the heater core and maybe radiator in the near future.

For now I'm happy and warm

There's a DIY on the e90x forum you can follow: https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=494469

There's some more info in this post on 1addicts: https://www.1addicts.com/forums/show...ostcount=14765

And here's a parts diagram at REALOEM: https://www.realoem.com/bmw/enUS/sho...diagId=52_3184

I have manual, heated, sport seats. (All sport seats, including manual sport seats, have power adjustable side bolsters.) If you already have power sport seats the wiring harnesses you need may be different (the wiring harnesses may also be different for heated and unheated seats), but FWIW I bought these wiring harnesses from BMW:

61129131758
WIRING SET SEAT LEFT

61129131647
WIRING SET SEAT RIGHT

It gets pretty expensive if you do the job using only new parts from BMW, so I bought some new and some used parts from eBay, salvage yards, and Schmiedmann.

The hole for the lumbar switch is already scored. I used a dremel with a small drill bit and punched several holes. I then switched to a sanding bit and slowly sanded down to the outer edge of the ring. The lumbar switch clicks into place from the backside of that panel.

The hardest part for me was getting the wires threaded from the seat bottoms to the seat backs - a wire fish would definitely help.
