Not a whole lot of protection when you get hit on the driver's side.

Anyone able to identify it and tell me what it is for and where it is supposed to go?

Maybe evaporator dain?

Could be from the back of a headlight (piece that fits over an breather vent).

Example:

Ah, that makes sense - I will check it out. The piece is clean, soft, and pliable so probably not on the car for 15 years and may have come off a headlight assembly that I installed last year. Thanks.

Well, sounds like you know how to use a voltmeter. Leave it hooked up like that and start pulling fuses until the meter goes from 0.26 to zero. Then start hunting for fuckery on that circuit.

1,000+ mile road trip on the new Conti's. High speed highway and Smoky Mtn twisties. This car such a blast and tires work well.

Got home, cleaned up junior real nice this afternoon, pulled the E92 outa the garage from winter hibernation, and parked the E82 in the garage for the summer.

Drove her to work today. Needed an outlet after the rough week. Although lately her tiny issues have become more annoying yet I have no time to address them.

Yep. These cars if you don’t drive them often, the gremlins start to come out 🙄😂

Drove it properly for the first time!

Today was the official inspection at our 'DOT' to make the car road legal and be eligible for license plates.

It passed with flying colors and the inspector was impressed by its low milage and every option (bar CD Changer).

So what to day. I love it. N55 with DCT is just match made in heaven. Since I have zero muscle memory for this car, driving of needed careful feathering of the throttle as it could be a bit jerky.

Wonder if the stainless steel 'iS' pedal is going to change that or not.

Then there's the active steering. Very interesting. Again, no muscle memory, but I knew what to expect. First impression is a definite positive.
Transitions is what I need to learn, but once I get to drive this daily, it should become very natural.
Roundabouts hardly take any steering input.

Now one more hoop to jump to (pay import tax) and then waiting for my papers so I can have plates pressed.

I guess after 15+ years, that plastic gets brittle from thermal cycling.

So this is what I'm doing this coming weekend: installing a new radiator and main hoses with a $650-lighter wallet.
OK. Radiator and hoses are replaced. Nothing is leaking (except my wallet). However, while I was in there, I took care of a little insurance:

I didn't do the mickey-mouse flange as it and the hose still look pretty good, but I've got a spare aluminum flange in my trunk (along with distilled water and the appropriate wrenches).

Too funny...I've owned my car for 12 years and it now has 259,xxx miles on it. I have done almost all the mods and upgrades out there. One of the mods/upgrades I hadn't done was the clutch delay valve delete, until today while bleeding the brakes. I can't believe I didn't do this sooner. Never gave it much thought because it only caused issues occasionally, or so I thought. Crazy how different it feels, especially from a stop. Much smoother in every way, and it grabs with the peddle much closer to the floor. What's also crazy is it's the original clutch!! I would have thought the valve would cause the clutch to be prone to premature failure. Apparently not. If you haven't done it yet, I highly recommend doing it. It's easy to do.
