Threw on the euro box today with the turner silicone intake boot.

I noticed my filter had a different holding shape, I purchased mahle lx1035 from rock auto but it was different than the pictures… so I just ordered another one from fcp to compare.

Sound is great-very minimal until you get on it. Adds a lot of throat and noise around 4k and I’d say a touch more throttle response but might just be placebo.

Happy with it anyways!

What's different on the Euro box?

For other's who might want to go this way.

The N55 version has a solid Y-pipe inside, while the N54 one is perforated.

So if you want to make a BMWPE mod easier, get one from an N55.

No charcoal filter, top down design instead of sandwiched sideways

Nothing crazy but I like the design more and much easier to service

I have a new-in-box K&N filter if you can't get the Mahles to work.

I finished up my suspension refresh this weekend, just needs an alignment.

I don't think there was any noticeable change in ride height, but I didn't think to take before/after measurements.

Also added 12mm spacers all around. I'm digging it.

The carnage...

Installed inline spool performance fuel filter with lines…
Installed aftermarket expansion tank/catch can…
Installed mosselman oil thermostat(again…don’t ask!)…
Oil change…
Coolant change…
Tidied up engine bay…
Finally learned how to remove the eletric fan(reinstalling was a pain!)…
Test drive…

Next up:
- Hydra Perfomance oil pump overdrive kit
- CSF OEM radiator
- VTT Intake Manilfold(Direct Injection only for now)
- Insane Performance pinned crankhub
- Replace oil filter housing

Had the car in the shop on Friday to do an annual maintenance + track prep.

Changed cabin/engine air filters, oil + filter change, new brake pads, and a full brake bleed.

For the brakes I went with EBC BlueStuff NDX pads and Motul RBF 600 fluid.

The trackday was an official Time Trials meaning we had one 'in' lap, 3 hot laps, and a cool-down lap.

Overall, the setup worked pretty well but the front pads were definitely at their limits. After my second session I had so much smoke coming from the brakes that someone thought my car was igniting! Although I didn't get any fade I also started to lose faith and have some smears on the front rotors. I've ordered some F30 front dust shields (with the scoops for airflow) to see if a bit more airflow will help things out.

Pressurized struts vs. blown basically always give an extra 1/2" or so ride height. Agreed not likely very noticeable but you would have been able to measure it I bet if you'd done before and after.

I have koni sa’s on my f32 and they’re excellent. Very firm but compliant ride. They’re super linear and the only complaint I have is when hitting big bumps the fluid hardens (or whatever the proper term is) and is much firmer than if you hit that bump at slow speeds, the whole point of these shocks though is that they have different responses to road impacts.

They’re great though absolutely love them after 18k miles with eibach springs

Threw on the style 68s that came on my car the first time around that I purchased it. Brings back a little nostalgia. I ended up keeping them this entire time. New shoes going on the 261s, because I can’t take a turn without unintentionally sliding.

Turns out the oil leak that I’ve been having is not coming from the oil lines. Because I replaced the gaskets again and The leak at the connection between the actual oil cooler behind the bumper and the line stopped. Continuing to experience oil leak at the oil -coolant cooler.

I’ve got a set of style 68 on mine and love them. Except for the fact that they don’t clear the f3x brake calipers I picked up….

Now on to the shitty stuff:

When I was under the car doing an oil change, discovered a crack in my thermostat leaking out coolant. So, replacing the water pump and thermostat.

While under there, my oil pan has been seeping for awhile, so decided to take a deeper dive into it. I’ve been holding off on taking care of it because it’s a bigger job than I wanted to tackle currently. And most of the time, it’s just the gasket and the amount of oil lost between changes hasn’t been to bad. Sadly, the oil pan itself has a decent amount of corrosion around some of the bolts, so I’m just going to replace the whole thing.

What sucks is that there are no manual transmission oil pans aside from genuine BMW. And it’s $845 new WITHOUT BOLTS OR GASKET. WTF. Auto pans are way cheaper and made of aluminum instead of steel. Why in the world isn’t there a non-BMW manual trans oil pan for n52 cars? Not even a racing aftermarket one with better baffling and cooling fins that’s not $2500?!? If anybody knows of one, please send it my way.

My bank account hates me right now. And it’s not even for the fun stuff I’ve got waiting to install.

The oil pan thing is pretty insane, but know that you can (and probably should) run an aluminum pan from an auto. There are a few details to account for that have been documented in some threads here. spidertri is making the swap now-ish.

The water pump and thermostat is something I don’t even want to entertain ever doing on these cars. And the oil pan gasket is also a problem of mine I’m dreading to do. Local Indy shops around me quote $1100 to do it and I can’t get myself to pay that lol.

I found some Style 261s on marketplace for a good price and changed out from the stock 262s. Hopefully the ride isn't ruined upsizing from 17" to 18".

Also had to code out TPMS by unplugging the RDC module under the rear passenger tail light and using Bimmercode to change RDC to "nicht_aktive" in the 3000 and 3004 Instrument Cluster expert settings.

Yeah, not fun, but at least we wont have to worry about it after it’s done. For awhile at least!

Yeah, I was back and forth on doing that all day yesterday. Ended up just pulling the trigger on the stupid expensive steel one. Oh well. Appreciate the info and response!
