I conditioned and cleaned the seats using Leatherique. Not bad for a 14-year-old car. 👍

I like a lot of the stock wheels that BMW offered on these cars but those ^^ 261's are definitely the best. Gorgeous!

Youre gonna love it. One of the best mods for this chassis.

Not bad for 75 bucks. Also, StopTech Sport brake pads are gentle on rotors.

Yes they are! And they're a fantastic mixed use pad too. Much better than Hawk IMO.

Yep I'm an idiot. I don't know why I thought I had it on my car -- maybe the PO mentioned it or I saw the now-defunct automatic transmission heat exchanger and thought that was it? I've attached a pic of it to show how dumb I am -- ports are capped and all lol

ZHP Coupe and 128i Coupe

@ZHPizza - Sorry to change the subject but I just noticed your garage - very nice! (Your username should've been my first clue lol.)
I've always admired the ZHP, seems to have flown under the radar until recently (just like the 128i). I've tried with mods to bring my car a little closer to a 128i ZHP.

Lol interesting. They capped the coolant off, but what is it bolted to? That's not the normal spot for it to interface with the engine oil circuit.

Why tho?
BMW abandoned the oil cooler setup on later iterations. More places for it to leak, less effective, etc.

Why?

Coolant has a greater thermal mass than oil. So I'm going to let oil do it's job lubricating the engine and coolant do it's job COOLING.

I live in a temperate climate where I don't have to worry about freezes basically ever so this will work well for me as I can run a thin coolant mixture without worry for maximum efficiency. If I had long winters with sub zero temps I'd probably run a large oil cooler in addition to two large radiators

That's a automatic trans cooler housing unit. Not an oil to water heat exchanger. Automatic trans used a similar interface to cool the trans fluid with coolant. There's a dedicated radiator down there somewhere I believe for these auto cars.

Yessir! I thought that the ZHP would be my last BMW until I found the 128i. I loved the ZHPs and still think they're uniquely great in sedan form, but the 128i feels more like a modern iteration of the e36 M3 (just with garbage brakes and suspension that you need to upgrade). It's far and away my favorite BMW.

That's really interesting! I don't recall -- do you track your car? I've been digging around trying to figure out if the water-oil heat exchanger would provide enough cooling for track use, or if the dedicated air-oil setup from an N54/55 would be needed.

Correct! I should have been clearer in my post -- my car was swapped from an automatic and it appears the shop left the heat exchanger in place and capped the transmission fluid lines going in/out. It's mounted on the bottom corner of the radiator and would appear to require some extra parts to remove, so I think it'll have to stay there until I replace the radiator.

from what i've researched; the air cooler is the only way to go for actual track use.

Anyone know if it’s possible to make the light bars be on with DRL’s? I tried with the Carly app, all it did was turn on my brake light bulbs. Could also be doing it wrong

Quick cruise with my brother. Shook up some g80 M3s and m440s.

Seeing these young boys in these cars always makes me laugh.

Yes. You need to code this to active (I don't use any app, but NCS Expert together with NCS Dummy as I have been using that for the last 15 years)

Module: FRM(3)
Parameter: DRL_TFL_MIT_SL_2

SL_1 are your angels/brows
SL_2 are the rear led bars

And I totally understand why you would want these the light up as well. They look awesome and they are led, so don't consume bulbs. All the new models have the rear leds/strips on and this makes the car feel just a little bit more modern. And did I say they look great?
It's nice having them on without the license plate lights.

EDIT: according to some googling, in Carly it should be "Daytime running lights – tail lights" • on/active.

Bought new black chrome exhaust tips. Mine didn't look fresh so I thought I would clean them, but instead, I rubbed off the coating. Not like you really see it, unless you stick your nose there.

But my neverending OCD kicked in so I orderded a new set at my local BMW dealer.

Also picked up a bag of (10) "plastic screw" for the interior filter cover. I got a new one two weeks ago, as a couple clips were broken. One of them the outside 'lip' that bolts it to the car. Since that was broken, the screw was missing.

I didn't pay attention, the parts diagram lists 2 partsnumber for the same item and normally I always check online for pics, but somehow missed the 2nd partnumber, which of course was the one I needed.
So for anymore, make sure you order: 7147146539, NOT 7119902932.
They seem identical, but one is grey and we need the black coated one. They also (each) go per 10 so that was an expensive mistake.

One of the first things I did. Best $140 I spent on a cosmetic feature. To me, dirty tail pipes is to that of a dirty butthole. The car could be washed and detailed but unkept tailpipes ruin it. Like a butthole, they’re always getting wiped down.
