Now those rotors are in my head and occupying the portion that says "the 135is should have come this way". Damn you.

I wonder though if you may get to put new ones on under the maintenance plan with a few more track days and think if you upgraded then, you could at least justify it more with your track/autocrossing adventures. |

Oh they'll definitely be ready for replacement if I do a few more days and then typical driving. I miss the e46 performance rotors because they they were "floating" which means even better heat dissipation. http://www.ecstuning.com/BMW-E46-330...All/ES2228825/
Can't understand why these e82 perf rotors are not of the floating sort.

The good news too is that the performance rotors are covered under the standard maintenance/warranty plan which is part of why I had them put on at a dealer though it cost me a bit more, so it'd be properly documented. They back date it if you put them on after purchase to either your date of purchase or 2 years from install, whichever is longer. Nice for a change that it goes in our favor. |

Yeah I'd love if our cars came with the Performance rotors, suspension, CF spoiler and diffusor, side skirts, and so on. But hey, what would BMW be able to sell us then!?
I've got an OEM CF spoiler on the way. Will post pics after the install!

Only thing I may potentially get is the blacklines perhaps in a month or so with some tax refund money, though still undecided on those. I'm trying to get a fellow mineral greyer to be a guinea pig first so I can see what they look like on my color. =) |

Check this thread for the posts where bp-plickner and mb135is put them on if you want to see some pictures of them on an IS. I'm sure they can enlighten you as well and I've looked into it, too. Seems like for fitment and quality of the weave, the BMW is hands down far superior, just really expensive. iCarbon used to make probably a good cheaper option, but I think they're out of business now. With all those cheapo ebay ones, the tabs don't line up, people have to modify them on the fly and do interesting things, which may or may not be an issue for you. I've heard of cheaper ones yellowing over time, too. So, while uber expensive, your best bet is probably to get it from a forum sponsor as they'll be like $300 or so less perhaps than a dealer. So check getbmwparts.com, and perhaps phil @ reeves BMW, etc. Then some of us may need to take on 2nd jobs to get the full catalog of BMW Performance parts. |

Couple More Pics This Morning
In part cause she looks so pretty and in part cause the camera on my new phone is seemingly leaps and bounds over my old phone, thought I'd share some pics of my car this morning that aren't rotor-related. Enjoy!
Ugh, now that I look at that second pic all I'm thinking is, man, it would look so much better with blacklines. Much cheaper though than looking at it and thinking, man, I need to get the CF diffuser. =) |

Daddy BMW Performance Bucks here doesn't have much money left after the rotors. I actually decided awhile back that I prefer the stock diffuser because I'm not a big CF fan and more importantly, I actually like how prominent the exhaust is with the stock one. I feel that when the CF diffuser goes on, it kinda minimizes the exhaust, which not only might be my (and most people's) favorite thing about the car, but we've also seen how OCD and anal I am about cleaning those darn PE tips. With that being said, I've yet to actually see the diffuser in person and might be blown away by it one day.

Looking very sharp Greg. The paint is ridiculously shiny!
Do you wipe her down everyday?

It may just be the long-lasting effects of the two coats of collinite 845 I put on a couple of months ago for my ironic "winterization" of the car. |

Here's a pic from when I got mine installed over the summer. Maybe this can help you make your decision... I'll take that as a compliment. But I blame YOU for planting the blacklines idea in my head!

That's fine. If I can then force you into buying some pilot super sports, too, then I reckon we'll be about even. The blacklines are pretty cheap and look especially amazing on a black car. I'll probably succumb to them when I get my tax return. And then my car will officially be complete.

I swear! Nothing else I would ever think of doing to it. Blacklines will complete my masterpiece! Like Frankenstein, only slightly prettier. Bride of Frankenstein? Was she pretty? I'll have to google it. Guess it should be the Bride of Young Frankenstein since my car is still young (8 months and 4 days) and in her prime!
Officially lost my mind over here... |
