I think only BMW could tell you that.

I got it because I had a 135i that didn't have it and I hated the controls for music in the base systems, that small little orange screen is from the 80's.

I didn't get iDrive really for Nav, but now that I have it I use it quite a bit. I mainly got iDrive for music/media management, email/calendar/messaging, call display, voice controls.

Now if only I could hack the traffic reporting functionality to work that would be great!

I would like to know how many in the USA have Navigation without the comfort package (no comfort access, or PDC).

I disagree. The Nav screen goes way beyond the nav. My 9yr old son loves the fact that he knows the names of the songs that are playing. The onscreen info for trip data, vehicle data, searching the phone book all work really well. The screen does not block the drivers view of the road at all. I would miss it.

I would rather have it. But it really doesn't matter much at all since my commute to work is short and most of my driving is short distances. Plus my car has iPod / USB which to me is critical. I love pandora on the road.

I bought my car used and got a screaming deal, the nav cars were almost 10-15k more. No chance I'm paying that

Not to mention this probably won't be my dd for more than 2 more years, and as a second car nav is basically not important at all

I bought mine to drive, not look at a screen. Having said that, I agree that the stock orange display truly sucks if you have more than 5 artists on your iPod.

their are 3 1m's on autotrader without nav that is selling for the same price or more than cars with navs. they are each selling for 65 thousand or more. i do not think that navs make a difference in the resale of the car.

Don't have it, don't like it.

think about it, even if one does not care about extra weight, few years down the road an outdated navigation system will be an eyesore. Look at any 10 year old BMW, do you like having a NAV in it, really? imho, people would pay to get rid of it!

I didn't spring for it due to the fact my phone already does and it can be updated (or downloaded) on a whim.

Mine does. I ordered it without any packages and when I went to pick it up at The Welt it turned out to have Nav, nothing else (no PDC, no comfort access, thankfully). Did some research and apparently this was due to some ordering system glitch for a couple days in Sept of 2011, all 1Ms ordered during those couple days got Nav for free.

I did not want it, but now that I have it I actually like it, as others mainly due to the ability to better display music.

I don't have it, don't like how it looks.

The biggest problem with Nav on the 1M is that in the US you had to buy $5000 in heavy gadgets like folding mirrors, backup sensors, electric seats that sit too high. Don't like holes in the rear bumper either. Maybe if NAV was available standalone, might have considered it for a second but not with all the extra junk.

When we had a meet here in SoCal with 20 cars, I think I recall most had NAV. The few times I have needed it, I plug my iPhone into the Aux connector and use the Google maps talking instructions.

Finally, there were so many saying you should spend the extra 5-6K for for NAV for resale value. I just priced my car on KBB. Stripped Excellent is $54,774, With the Luxury package and NAV $56,774. So you spend $5K plus tax to get $2K back....just as I said then.

Then, they said good luck trying to sell it stripped. Everyone wants fully loaded...... sorry, wrong again. I would have no problem whatsoever selling my 1M not-loaded. There are other downsides to NAV...more gremlins with radio controls etc.

Finally, I love the clean look of the dash too.

As I said below, If it had been offered as a standalone option, I might have considered it but not with all the other stuff. Especially don't like the too-high electric seats. Congrats!

Incidentally there were a handful of people who ended up with Nav as a standalone option, for free, essentially.

Didn't realize USA had to order the Prem Package to get Nav! I really might not have gotten it then, I hate electric seats and the back up sensor.

iDrive was a total of $2k option for us up here, stand alone!

No nav ordered.
Have not missed it.
IPhone and Google maps with Bluetooth thru speakers eliminates the need for nav.
Using playlists simplifies the orange screen.
Less weight is better.
Right decision and would do it again.
