Just that there is a general BMW Apps update and that there was going to include more apps. Not heard anything specific. But this could be just a rumor... (from BMW technician)

Looks like Yelp is coming, digging and not coming up with much.
The Yelp announcement talks about BMW Online but I imagine there is some iPhone app also.
http://www.webwire.com/ViewPressRel.asp?aId=151112 From last October, BMW and Mini will have their own app stores: http://www.bmwblog.com/2011/10/06/3r...-bmw-and-mini/ Also BMW opened three app centers. http://telematicsnews.info/2011/10/0...on-apps_o2052/ Look at this screen, looks like some apps and functionality through BMW Online and the ability to add apps. It would be nice for the car to launch the app versus manually launching it. For those that don't know, have BMW Apps and have yet to install one: Links to current BMW Provided Apps: BMW Connected (US and others and BMW Link (UK and others) http://www.bmw.com/com/en/owners/bmw_apps/index.html http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bmw-c...406975118?mt=8 Other apps are MOG and Pandora available in iTunes until we hear more about the new apps. Standard apps BMW RoadSide (US and others): http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bmw-r...362176894?mt=8 BMW My Remote (UK and others) http://www.bmw.com/com/en/insights/t...formation.html BMW Parking Assistant (US and others): http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/parki...407526833?mt=8 BMW M Power Meter (US and others): http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/bmw-m...344494968?mt=8 BMW's competition and why the rush: http://abcnews.go.com/Business/autom...5299860&page=2 Last edited by KevinJ; 01-20-2012 at 05:21 PM.. |

BMW Working on...but looks like most will be pay services
Looks like most features will come through BMW Online/BMW Assist Convenience Plan. I believe this costs $199 a year?
BMW Yelp http://telematicsnews.info/2012/01/0...ervices_j3014/ Err ...Customers who subscribe to the optional BMW Assist Convenience Plan and have a navigation-equipped vehicle capable of receiving the BMW Online service will be able to add the service, without having to make any changes to their vehicle. BMW Updates BMW Online UI http://telematicsnews.info/2011/12/0...-online_d2042/ Cloud base infotainment: http://telematicsnews.info/2011/10/0...onality_o2055/ Android version of ConnectedDrive http://telematicsnews.info/2011/10/0...ne-apps_o2051/ BMW adds Foursquare developers at the BMW Group are also working on the integration of additional features. As well as the integration of streaming podcast services and virtual travel guides, foursquare® would enable the community area of MINI Connected to expand to include the link-up with location-based services and social networking. Customers can use foursquare to explore their surroundings or check out a nearby restaurant, for example, and to access any tips the community can offer. They can also see where their friends are hanging out. http://telematicsnews.info/2011/10/0...ty-apps_o2056/ BMW has indicated there is a difference between Mini and BMW customers. So its not sure which features would make it to BMW. |
