iDrive Software Update issues

I'm trying to update iDrive in a 2011 E82 MSport. I do not have the "Software Update" option in settings. But when I look at the CIC file in NCS Expert, "Enable_Software_Manager" is set to activ. Anyone know how to fix this?

Do you have a combox? I think this is only available if you have a combox

It's one of the bluetooth/media modules available on the 1er. If you have a combox, you would have bluetooth audio streaming, bmw online/live or possibly bmw connected drive/bmw apps.

Pull up the floor in your boot and take a pic of the modules you have there. I'll let you know what you have.

Also what's your build date?

I don't believe I have it. I changed Bluetooth audio to "activ" in CIC with no effect. Build date is 08/10. From what I read, combox wasn't included prior to 2011 build dates. Is it possible to retrofit combox?

Yeah its easy, i did it a while back. You need a combox (obviously) and a combox retrofit adapter - you can buy one or you can make one.

It looks like you know how to code, this is what you need to do:
Change production date to 03/11
Add the following options: $614, $615, $644, $6AL, $6FL, $6NF, $6VC, $6NR, $7SP to the VO but do not write it to CAS or FRM
Then recoded CIC and MEDIA

To get bmw live and online working you will need to follow this thread http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1106645

Is there a part number for the combox retrofit adapter? Is there a guide I can look into on how to do all of this? What software did you use to code?

Thanks in advance for the knowledge. (Btw will this also add apps and video streaming?)

there are guide's on this forum and on e90post

you need ncsexpert to code the vehicle as well as a USB-OBD DCAN cable

The combox retrofit adapter is an aftermarket part - BMW do not make this nor endorse this retrofit in anyway.

For BMW apps you will further need an activation code (FSC) purchased from BMW and someone to import the code into your car. approx $500

For video streaming you will need additional hardware and wiring to install in place of your 6FL under the armrest. bimmerretrofit or bimmertech have complete packages if you wanted all that stuff. But it is going to cost you over $1000 for all that.

I just got the combox on its own and hacked my CIC to allow internet access and found that was good enough (in my old car). Even now, i almost never use the internet my new 1er.
