Best iPhone 4 holder?

Using my iPhone 4 via the Aux plug to play tunes in my '08. Right now I'm using a cup holder to store the phone, but there must be a more elegant solution. Any suggestions or pics of your better set-up?

Edit: I do not have the USB port, so I'm also looking for the most elegant solution for using the iPhone in my car.
Thanks!

I'm looking for a good iphone dock for a car too.

I thought a product form dice could work but, that didnt work for me.

If you don't use any case or whatever protecting thing for your iphone then

it might work for you.

By the way. if you have a aux port with Cigarette Lighter Adapter port underneath arm rest

then buy BMW iphone intergration cable and usb charger for car

this intergration cable has iphone connecter on one side

one USB connecter and one 3.5mm on other side. (so it's like Y shape)

so u can listen to the music while charging the phone.

I have the xm sky dock which is a legacy from when I used it to receive satellite radio in my Z4.

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002Q0W816/...SIN=B002Q0W816

Now I just use it to securely hold and power my iPhone and use the auxiliary input on my 135i to feed audio to the stereo.

If you don't use auxiliary audio you could use the built in FM transmitter in the Skydock holder.

Perfect angle for viewing, touch screen control etc.

Bluetooth works perfectly for phone connection too.

I stumbled across this option:

http://www.amazon.com/Mounteks-nGroo...=18DVAECLZVK3K

I don't like the cupholder mods because (a) they take up a precious cupholder and (b) in the 128 w/iDrive, the cupholder is under the armrest. You'd have to have the add-on passenger well cupholder to make the phone holder useful.

I've also signed up to support this kickstarter project:

http://www.kickstarter.com/projects/...kstand-for-pho

I signed up for the suction cup version before I found the CD slot version, but since I have an iPod connector, I never use the CD changer. If the suction cup doesn't work, I'll get the CD slot thing.

where do you plan on putting the phone with the suction cups?

Not sure I like the CD slot option. With a power cord and the AUX cord attached to the iPhone, I think I want it mounted lower (on the center console) instead of that high up. I would look messy.

The second option (kickstarter mount) is PERFECT provided we can find a smooth, flat surface to attach the suction cup to the console.

I'm not sure. It depends on how big the cups are. If they are small enough, I'm hoping that the cups will fit on the strip of wood trim below the iDrive. if not, then probably windshield.

I have on order the Blackberry Stereo Bluetooth Gateway, which will allow me to connect my iPhone to my stereo via Bluetooth, so the only cord I'll have is the power cord for my iPhone.

I agree that if I had to connect a physical audio cable to the phone as well as the power, I wouldn't do this.

I saw the kickstarter project on engadget and I loved the idea! I think ill sign up for it also, I think its an elegant solution and would work well. Only thing is I dont know how long it will take for it to be put into production, as well as be shipped to my door.

But paired with http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00...00_i00_details and it would be perfect, as it pumps music & charges my phone!

Are you sure this cable will work in place of the BMW Y-Cable?

i have confirmation from the dealership: if someone has an iPhone and did not go for the bmw sat nav you can get the iPhone station on most bmw's... you can use the iPhone in landscape as a mediacenter on your dash...
i would love to see a one series with the iPhone station to make sure it looks okay when the iPhone is not in there... it might save me an expensive sat nav option
*waiting for my 1M*

It looks great in my 335d; it will look even better in a 1 since you get a bezel surrounding it.

Go for it.

Been using it on two of my '08 135i's and its perfect for your application, here's a link for the pic:

Hope I helped.

I have the cable. It does the job even better than the OEM Y-Cable.

1. The cable is much longer.
2. I don't have iDrive, so choosing songs on the radio screen is a pain. And with the OEM 6FL cable, my iPhone locks me out of being able to choose songs through the handheld with a "An Accessory has been Connected" screen.
3. Audio quality is still very good, as the cable utilized the LINE-OUT function.

The only thing you lose is the ability to switch songs via the steering wheel controls, and thats honestly fine with me for the added benefits. Without looking at the screen I can change the next song no problem.

I just ordered a Proclip mount. At $75 its damn expensive but it looks like the best solution out there. I will report back once I get it installed.
