Exhaust Valve Mod?

Hey all,

My friend with a 335i showed me a "mod" that he performed where he unplugged the exhaust valve making his car sound like a cold start all the time.

Is there an equivalent to this on the 1M? Does it even have an exhaust valve? I noticed cold start has a great sound to it but the car quickly quiets down. I cannot find information on this anywhere pertaining to the 1M given the different rear section and whatnot.

No valve, BMW gutted the resonator instead. If seeking louder you are the next step seems to be Maddad midpipes or equivalent.

Exhaust flap in the muffler on the 135i. It's often referred to as the "golf tee mod" because some people use a golf tee to plug the hose that actuates the flap valve. The better way is to unplug it in the trunk area left side under the carpet.

Not sure if the 1M has a flapper valve or not.

Wouldn’t it be cool if the MSA (auto start-stop) button could be fitted and repurposed for exhaust flap?

Wonder if MHD/JB4 could program something like that.

The symbol, and A with circle/arrow around it wouldn’t even be that out of place, the A then standing for “Auspuff”, German for exhaust.

I know MHD multimap had an option to control the flap through steering wheel buttons, but an oem switch to toggle between m’n stock and always-open wilould be sweet.

Which BMW would you want this on?

I know on my F80 M3, putting the car in sport mode opened the exhaust valve/flap; and I've wanted to put together a similar function for the valve for 1Ms running Akrapovic exhaust systems (instead of the bluetooth button they sell for it). For 1M, having it open in MDM or sport modes to get rid of the silly Akrapovic button in the car.

That would be awesome, I hate having to press that little remote, sometimes is gets out of sync and won't open until I restart, I much prefer a clean harwired solution.

My 135i.

Yes I do have the sport button. But this is more than just the valve alone, like sharpening the throttle response (well, remap...).

But I would like an option where I am in sport mode for throttle, but the flap can stay closed. So having a hard overwrite.

Though it would be ok if it opens when it has too. I know the MHD multimap has an exhaust flap hard setting you can switch too (OEM, always open, always closed) but this is with steering wheel button combo's.

Having an OEM switch on the dash would be neat. Even if that buttons could be used to call up the MHD exhaust flap menu, would already be great.
