New 135i owner
Hey Guys,
Just picked up a CPO '12 alpine white 135i with 25k miles and can't wait to start modding this beast. Purchased from Center BMW in Sherman Oaks. Talked to the General manager who said there service department is mod friendly for basic bolt on stuff, can anyone confirm this? Coming from a fully bolted Mazda Speed3 that was totaled in an accident. Car was pretty much complete with KW V3 being installed and corner balanced just 3 weeks prior. Plans are to start off slow with an upgraded intercooler and cobb AP. My Speed3 was running meth injection which I would like to do as well at some point on the 135. The 135i is already at the stealer for a gas smell which they are saying is a cracked fuel line. Anyway been doing lots of reading and learning about this great platform. Man the for sale section is really active as well which is great. Few pics: Last edited by Hit Redline; 03-13-2015 at 08:09 PM.. |

If it's a 2012, Cobb will not work on it. BMW has encrypted the ECU. That's why I picked up my 2011. You can do a piggyback tune like the JB4 though.
Good luck and welcome to the family!

I got the Cobb AP from another member here. I needed to download the ROM data for the Cobb and emailed them for an update. Should be a few days for them to respond.
My mod path for right now is: AL priority laser jammer- installing on Friday Blendmount for V1 Cobb AP check Intake- still trying to decide but leaning towards BMS Intercooler- So many choices, will keep watching the for sale thread for a good deal. Pro-Tune once I have these mods |

Hey what's up man, that statement is indeed true to a certain degree, most dealerships tend to shy away from modded vehicles due to liability reasons... However here at McKenna BMW we are okay with modded vehicles, if it's worth the drive please PM whenever you need services or warranty work done to your vehicle. Modded or not I can help you, and I'm sure a lot of people can vouch for me!

JB4 G5 ISO, downpipe and charge pipe to support boost. Map 2 will hold you over for awhile.

After sending in my AP for some updates it still won't connect as it says my DME software is too old. I have an appointment next week to get my DME updated, if that doesn't work then here I come JB4. |

you won't reget it, cobb AP working on a 12 is cherry on top type of thing. i was in the same situation, have 12 that was built in 11, which has the supported dme software but i had heard the kind of story you just described so i went with the JB4..
the support burger offers is amazing, in the case i go bigger turbo ill get a cobb ap v2 to try and flash it with the BMS back end flash.

I'm curious about the outcome as well. I have a '12 with a 5/11 production date. I've contacted Cobb and they said it should work, though the DME update issue might rear it's ugly head. The one thing they noted is that the v3 would be preferred over the v2, not sure what diff that would make...
