So I am doing a full correction on a Black X3

And I absolutely hate finishing down black sapphire metallic. If someone ever comes to me asking to correct their black BMW, I will slap their face and call them an idiot for getting one.

Why did they have to make it the clearcoat so difficult to finish down. Every time I polish, I get some areas that come out perfectly and other that are marred. Which means I have to redo that area again.

Unbelievable...

Right now I am using:
PC7424XP
Sonax Nano Polish
Uber Medium Polishing Pad

I think I will go directly to Uber final polishing pad to finish down the paint. Wish me luck.

Black Sapphire is the softest clear coat offered by BMW. It is one of the hardest paints to get right.

You need to finish down extremely fine to eliminate the marring. You almost need to treat it like honda paint.

I had to use Menzerna PO85RD with a blue LCC pad to get it right. As you'll find out the blue LCC pad is actually used for sealants. But that matched with my makita 9227c rotary was the perfect combo to just "level out" the clear coat without cutting too much.

Good luck

That's the route I am going. I will go over the whole car this weekend and check out my results in the sun. If that won't do, then I will switch to my Uber glaze/wax pad and re-polish. I just want to opti-coat this car and have this nightmare be behind me.

I've owned three black cars over the years and black is so tough to keep looking good. I've just given in to the fact that it's not realistic to keep it flawless - it will look better than 99.99% than the other cars out there anyway.
