Setting nav volume independently from radio volume?

I find the navigation prompts too loud as compared with the radio volume.

Is there a way to set the navigation voice volume independently from the radio volume?

This is a 2008 135i convertible.

Thanks,
g

Assuming it's the same as my wife's 5 series, the only way we found to do it was to wait until the nav lady is speaking instructions and use the radio volume button to turn her down. You have to turn the volume button down while she's speaking, or else you just turn your radio down.

I don't know if that's the only way to do it, but it's the only way I know and it does work. It's easier with two people, too. Good luck.

+1 to spiderz reply. You have to wait for the nice nav lady to speak to you, then shut her up by pressing the volume down button on your steering wheel while she's talking.

You can get her to talk on demand by either pressing the rhombus or star key on the steering wheel (don't remember which). If you haven't changed their default function, one of them is mapped to 'repeat previous navigation direction'.

good thread. Picked up my new 1er yesterday and could barely hear the nav lady's orders; could not figure out how to up the volume on that, I kept deafening myself with the stereo each time I tried. Will try this today.

Also, the volume level you set will be stored in your key - so if you then use the other fob, be prepared for a different level.
