N54 turbo caked with oil, extensive smoke
In need of help. My first bmw, I purchased from a guy who did not want to fix after small fender bender. After sitting for about two years I Finally got it done and I drove it for a week very minimal. Last week I drove it and it ran ok felt like I was not boosting 100%, then I noticed a cloud of smoke from behind me. I got home and ended up pulling down pipes to see turbos that when I noticed oil was caked on my front turbo and in my intercooler. Need help, oil drain line was ok.

Seems the front turbo on these cars are the first to go. When I bought mine a week ago from a guy he said the front turbo had a leak. It smokes on start up after setting and on deceleration. Center outer section of the turbo is wet as well.
With the amount of work it takes to get these out (not hard just time consuming) I'm not sure I would trust the Chinese knock off unless you don't mind tearing your car apart all the time. I'm getting to old to be doing that. LOL I ordered chras from RB with billet upgrade for 825. You'll get 50 back if you send in your core. I'm ordering waste gate repair from FCP today. Hope to get my turbos out today and start the tear down. Hope to have |
