Convertible with moonlight top.

I was just wondering how the moonlight top is holding up for all the vert owners out there. I read somewhere that folds show up a lot more with the moonlight. Also, is there any difference in maintenance between the two?

Thank you!

I use a big hand sponge and 303 convertible top cleaner... then I use 303's UV / Water Repellent (for fabric convertible tops) as a final coat of protection.

Works well.

Funny to see this tonight. I was just out in the garage putting on the second coat of RaggTopp protectant. I washed it yesterday morning with the cleaner. So far it looks excellent.

The Moonlight on my 2009 with 14K does show some folding shade variation near the c pillar area and above the door windows. Nothing too bad. I would get this top again as it really makes the car stand out. Gets tons of compliments.

Take good care of it and enjoy.

I used RaggTopp on my previous cars... I honestly didn't think it was as good of a protector as 303 and also didn't like the application process. That canned spray / mist process was a pain in the arze imo... I prefer the bottle sprayer / applicator that comes with 303.

I just got my car about a 2 months ago. I have the moonlight top as well. How often do you clean and protect the top? Many thanks,

Raggtop suggests reapplying every 6 months... while 303 can last up to 3 years under the right conditions. I'd apply either product every 6 months for guaranteed durability.

With that said, 303's convertible top kit (for fabrics) is probably the best conv. top protectant you can get for your money imo. The entire kit (cleaner and water-repellent/uv-protectant) can be purchased online for $25 (at AutoGeek)... which is the best deal I've been able to find on it thus far (from a reputable dealer, at least). RaggTop costs about double that and is a bit harder to apply (...and imo, is a slightly weaker protectant overall).

In the end, both products are good and using either of them will ensure that you have a nice top for many years to come

IMO it is because the person at the dealer who said that is an idiot. I think the Moonlight top is very nice and mine looks like new on my car albeit it is only 6 months old. And it looks much better than the drab Black one that most people get. But some people think it has too much of a sheen so to each their own.

I just bought the RaggTop kit (cleaner and protectant) but have yet to try it.
I've been told the spray can't really be applied if there's any wind at all.
I paid $36 from Palm Beach Motoring through Amazon.

Aw man... tell me about it. RaggTop is almost impossible to apply if there is even the slightest breeze in the air. I remember waiting almost a week just to find a calm enough day where I could apply the damn thing.

Still ended up with more RaggTop on my face than the convertible top.

27 months now with the Moonlight Black top, and it's parked outdoors at my wife's place of work every weekday - no problems thus far. We keep it clean and use the BMW top conditioner, although I favor Ragg Top. Because that product is sprayed on, it usually means masking some areas instead of sponging it on as with the non-spray BMW stuff.
