Wow AMG C63! That's a barnstormer. How aggressive a price are you talking about for one of those, Way?
I expect that we will know more about pricing once the Brisbane Motor show kicks off. One way or another though, it's going to be +/- a few grand either side of $80K I'm sure.

C63 pricing came out on Friday. I was expecting $170k but it was released at $139.5k!!! We are not talking poverty pack here either. It comes with metallic, roof, heated and electric seats, nav, 4gb hard drive stereo, Harman Kardon, active xenon etc etc. Not bad at all! BMW is going to lose so many sales of their M3. 3 of my friends already diverted their M3 orders for one of these!

Yes $139.5K is relatively cheap - $17,500 cheaper than an M3. Obviously designed to rain on M3's coming out party.
And the C class also just won Wheels Car of The Year too..... Still at a saving of $59,500, I'll stick to my 135 and settle for slightly less performance and glamour.

I personally think the 135i is a bit of bargain too, and it will out do the C63 in many situations. Different cars for different purposes. Btw, the difference is more like $48k given the much higher level of equipment with the AMG. It's interesting that you mention glamour. Do you think the C63 is a car that a valet would park out the front of a 5 star hotel? I wonder how none-owner/prospective owners see this car. I personally don't see it as a classy car like say my Aston, and if I was a valet I wouldn't park it out front. :P

Given the choice and lack of available spaces, a valet would definitely pick a C63 over a 135i IMO. Then again if you turned up in your Aston at the same time the bloke in his shiny new C63 did and there was only one parking spot left, guess who's going to get shunted off to the basement carpark....? ;-)
BTW is what model year is your AM?

Haha you certainly are right about the valet situation there! My AMV8 is 8 months old, so that makes it 2007. There isn't much difference between the years. 2007 got new and better seats, and 2008 gets iPod and cupholders on top of that.

WOW. 140k for the AMG is a steal. Check out Top Gear comparo M3/C63/RS4 () This is part 1 of 3. The rest are easy to find.
Hope your insurance (car and life!)is up to date if you do decide to buy an AMG. If I had the extra cash, I'd go the AMG no wuckin' furries. |

Fast Kiwi, I am envious. Have always wanted to work for a car company!
Dodgy, have you seen Fifth Gear's comparison as well? It was interesting. It's clear that the M3 is a much faster track car, but I suspect the AMG is going to be a better car for the road due to it's stupendous torque. I am not interested in taking the C63 to the track anyway so it doesn't matter. I will leave that for the 135i which I know will be much more fun on the track. |

Swift135,
- Take pictures of everything. - See if you can get a definitive list of options and inclusions for the 135i and post it here. - Ask when the official launch date is in May. - See if you can get any pics of the underside of the car. Thanks!!!

Another Aussie here
Not a coupe owner, but a 120d hatch. I'm hoping BMW Australia will bring out the 123d coupe later this year but I'm not going to hold my breath! Paul Martin www.paulnika.com http://web.mac.com/nitramluap/Biodiesel/ |

I would be very interested in getting a diesel 1 series convertible. Doesn't have to be the 123d, as I am not after something performance oriented. Was pricing of the convertible announced too? Btw, I think the pricing of 125i is very very sharp. Didn't realised that this is the 3.0 litre engine similar to my X3, but detuned by 40kw and 30nm.

How does that add up? Does RRP for the car exclude LCT? I always thought RRP of a car included LCT but options did not? Can you exlpain the maths as I can't work that out. Must be me. Oh - Hi everyone. Thinking of putting down a deposit - just trying to work out how to get it past ny wife/budget officer. Tank. |

Hee hee, Tank. The budget officer is also known to me as the "handbrake".
I usually justify the purchase over a few weeks to soften her up to the idea ("I work really hard"," I'm exhausted"," I need a reward for all my hard work", "what's the point of working so hard when we don't enjoy the spoils", etc), then I just make the purchase without telling her once she is quite amenable to the idea. Once it's bought she usually just accepts it. Works for me everytime. Cheers.
