I saw a 128i in my 135i today and the guy didn't wave!

I used to do the wave all the time as a old school Beetle, Golf & Corrado driver but when I got my 1st p-car (993) I waved at a 964 & the driver gave me the bird and called me a 'Tosser'!

Since then I never wave...

I did get a few waves (all from women) when I had a MCS bt nothing so far in my 1er.

First time I saw another 1 around here was tonight, red 128i and he/she didn't really seem to care I had a 135i... I was quite excited though!

i flash lights and wave at every one i see (plus 08+ STIs, and EVOs)...the only people who reciprocate are evo8-9 drivers

Nothing against the 128i in general, but the 2 I've seen on the road so far looked like they were being driven clueless Beemer buyers, not 1Addict people. Though it's hard to imagine in here, I'm sure there are people who bought 1s that have no idea how special the car is.

I keep getting shot down around the DC Metro area, maybe people are too P.Oed from traffic. I even nodded to a 128 vert gentleman at a gas station, he just stone faced me and proceeded to pump. I wave at another 128 vert I see almost everyday as I we pass in opposite directions, she is oblivious.

I won't give up...

I am down for this. $hit man, when I had my MINI I would wave to every MINI I would see, even the new R56 variant (the retarded step brother of the R53). Doing this in the 1er would be fun, as well.

Just gotta see a 1er on the road now...

Maybe you're on the wrong side of the Potomac :iono: If I see you in MD, you can be damn sure I'll wave!

Actually, I think the problem is an over abundance of BMWs in our area, although I actually had a Z4 driver wave to me while I was on my BMW motorcycle.

Oh, man. I feel your pain. Market saturation does dilute enthusiasm.

Here in Dallas, there's a good-sized BMW population, and it's plagued by a largely-undeserved prejudice against Bimmers. At fault: the handful of "bad apple" BMW owners who are either inconsiderate drivers, completely oblivious to the incredible quality of their cars, or both. I know folks in Dallas that just assume you must be some kind of jerk to drive a BMW - and this is in a town where you are far more likely to be cut off (or shot from) a passing pickup truck than a Bavarian coupe.

As a result, it can be tough to get a smile out of a Bimmer pilot as you pass... much less a wave.

However... Just today I got a nice, genuine wave and thumbs up from - of all people - 750i driver, who probably realized his sedan was much pricier than my coupe, but also knew good things come in small packages.

Really restores your faith.

i've had an S2000 for over 4 years now and 99% of the S2000 owners i've come across do the wave. i think the 1% that didn't wave probably didn't see me.

I used to drive a wrangler and almost every other wrangler would wave... it was pretty cool. I don't expect that to happen in this car.

Better than a wave...

This just in... I'm driving home two minutes ago, and a guy riding through our neighborhood on his bike spotted my 1, did two double-takes, and crashed into the curb. I felt pretty bad for him until I saw he was okay (he was grinning when he gave me an embarrassed thumbs up).

Priceless.
