Doing the European delivery right now!
Yep, guys, as in "right this moment".
I just wanted to brag a bit I am sitting with my girlfriend in a pretty sweet Renaissance hotel in Paris. We drove in yesterday from Munich, where I picked up my 135i (manual transmission, space gray, premium package with black leather, M sport package with aluminum trim, iDrive, premium audio, comfort access, smartphone integration, alarm, park distance control). The weather's been pretty yucky , so I was only able to get it up to 120 mph. We're getting back to German soil in a few days so we'll try again for my 150 target speed. Here are the pictures from the BMW Welt: my new beauty my new beauty and my old hag i think one of them is jealous. happy 3some cherry check out our blog. my gf updates it daily. |

We are in Vienna rigth now - our last stop on this trip.
We've gone to so many amazing places that would normally be hard to visit without a car. From Paris we drove to the Omaha Beach. It was a moving experience - seeing such a peaceful place where 65 years ago a bloody battle took place...brrr. The drive was pleasant. The speed limit in France is 80 mph, but I did about 120 in some areas. There are lots of tolls - we paid around 20 euros each way Also got to drive on a two-way country road that was wide enough to fit one car. That was way too much fun. Back in Paris, I was chased through traffic by two guys in an Audi hatchback. They asked me to rev my engine. I did - and received a nod of approval There are quite a few 1ers in Europe but I haven't seen a single 135. Most are hatchbacks (tourings, as they call them here) and models usually are 116 to 123. Getting into town was a pain - the main tunnel leading to Paris city center was closed. I had to go through La Defense in which haft the streets were blocked for construction (iDrive did not know that). It took me about 40 minutes of doing sharp turns and going god knows where before I managed to get to a familiar route. After three days in Paris we went to Epernay, because my gf is a champagne fiend. I got yelled at by some rapper-looking frenchman because I stopped to let him cross the street. Driving in the city was fun but a bit stressful. Their streest weave like there is no tomorrow. I'd make a turn after turn and then turn again and end the drive with three more turns. We're off to Linz. I'll update later. |

Fantastic trip! We're dying to do ours in April. Trying to get our trip stops figured out. Would love to see the Normandy beaches but it seems like alot to do and alot of ground to cover. How far is Normandy from Paris?

The drive from Paris to Normandy is 258km. With 130 speed limit it's roughly 2 hours.
The drive is scenic. You could spend half of the day at the beach, if not more. Our visit lasted for about 3 hours and we felt it was sufficient. I did not enjoy driving from Munich to Paris - we left too late and I ended up spending 7 hours driving in the dark while it was raining, fogging and the temperature was dancing around the freezing point. I really only included France in the itinerary because of my gf; normally, I would prefer driving in one direction. Being able to visit the Normandy Beach was one of the reasons I gave in to the circle. Well, also driving through some villages in the Champagne region. From Munich we drove to see the Eagle's Nest; however, it began freezing as we got half way up the mountain. The roads were wet and without proper tires I felt it was unsafe staying on the narrow winding mountain road. We've been to Europe twice with each other and many times separately, so we have seen the major cities and attractions. When planning this trip, we wanted to visit places that would normally be hard to access by train. Normandy is one of them. A few days ago we visited Dachau. Today we drove to see Mauthausen-Gusen concentration camp and Hitler's youth home. The camps left an unimaginable impression on both of us. I have a great interest in history of WW2. I've seen both camps countless times in documentaries and I am just speechless to have seen it with my own eyes. |

Thank you for the info. I am also a WWII buff and visiting the Cemetary and beaches to pay tribute to those who gave all is something I would love to do. Theres so much to do in Europe and not sure if we can make it there this trip. It is someplace I need to visit at some point in my life time. The Eagles nest is already on our list of places for this trip.
