Or, has anybody managed to find an aftermarket nav solution that makes use of the dashboard storage bin??
Not 100% what you were asking, but:

VERY clean integration, IMO.

I was at the dealership today and found some info:

Mounting Bracket: 65 80 0 442 224
It was specifically marked for BMW 1 series. $33.38 and approximately .5 hours of labor.

I didn't find the base plate or connectors, though.

how do you remove the instrument cluster- I am guessing first the actual cluster- the two screws on the top of it and then you can remove the housing for the cluster?

anyone know where I can get another nuvi 350 mount? I don't realy like the BMW setup. I want to make a custom setup to some how make it hidden or at least have it fold down.
Oh does the BMW setup have the swivel like the window mount? so you can angle the GPS to the passenger side, or even to jsut adjust it for better site.

I mounted my Nuvi 350 in the ashtray compartment. You can see it here: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/attac...1&d=1216620336

It took quite a bit of effort, but I'm happy with the install. It's a good spot.

Does this kit supply power to the Nuvi and also allow it to play throught the car sterio or does it only get power to the navigation unit?

I have a Nuvi350 so a clean way to use it on the 128i I am thinking about would be nice. Even nicer would be a good way to mount a 7 series Nuvi so I could also have Bluetooth. But to play music out of the Nuvi or to use a phone through it, I would want to connect it to the radio using the same sort of aux connector that is in the armrest. I presume there are wires to do this in the dash, I am just wondering if they are involved in this install.

options to mouting your nuvi

I have a garmin nuvi and found that it fits nicely in the open ashtray/change tray in my case. The power is there as well, and its within reach and stays put. I don't find myself looking at it as it tells you where to go. Just a thought for those looking for a free option. The fit is perfect.
