I had to do the OFHG gasket which means the intake manifold has to come out anyway so I figured i might as well get it done.

The car had 44k miles at this point. He was surprised at how little build up I had. Apparently the N55 has much less build up. Here are a couple before and afters.
Thanks for posting it up!
Not terrible, but still a little grungy.
Wish I had mine blasted when I had the OFH and OFHG R&R'd a couple months ago, but the guy doing the work had no idea what I was talking about, and (by the time I knew it needed the housing, and was in pieces on his shop floor) I had no way to drive it to someone who did...

Pulled the JB+ today.
Only sheared one bolt...
Exhaust burbles and 2k rpm pull are quite a bit less insistent, but idle is dead even and it's smoother over the entire range. Purrs like the balanced six it is.
For the street, really tough to decide which is better.
But the turbo is boosting, and I think perhaps the stock character better suits the convertible. Even if it doesn't get me quite as juiced up.

We'll see if I change my mind, but after the current issue I'm not sure I want to put it back on.

For your tuning consideration- MHD N55 E-Series on Google Play Store

For mild to mid range power goals flash tuning is the hot setup. Love mine, just an OTS tune, and it's like factory only stronger. MHD has excellent logging as well which is really nice to have.

For me, today's fun was an adaptive headlight code- classic story, tinkered with the headlights, didn't get the passenger side cover back on 100% correctly (because it's a PITA to access that side), and after a car wash got moisture in the light.

Bumper off, headlight out, hair dryer running to dry out the light as I type this...

Bling'd up the engine compartment and installed an e-brake handle to match the M-sport wheel I bought off the boards a few weeks ago:

Unfortunately the weather's crap tonight so I didn't take the car out, will see what the aesthetics/performance ratio is on that intake tomorrow morning. The install was a nice, easy job though, and it certainly looks and sounds good!

Erm...., didn't you just install a set of AE's before tossing that Honda's salad?

Special treat for me, I pulled out the D1S while I was in the headlight, and promptly smacked the crap out of the bulb on the headlight housing in the process.. So, of course it doesn't work any more

Ah well, have a new set on the way, picked up some 6000K bulbs to match the Cree AE.

Oh man, I didn't realize that was just from popping the back cover off i thought you actually split the housings!! And yes I did JUST put those AE's in about 3 days before slamming them into the honda lol. Maybe my brain wanted to make sure the back housings were on tight enough

heh...
I've never split a headlight housing, and with any luck at all I never will...

I was so surprised to find the gasket still wet, enough to make me take & post a pic!

Is it possible to get replacement gaskets for that back cover? I haven't really looked around yet, but if they're available I'd darn sure get a fresh set!

You have to buy the cap, but yes they are available. Part numbers:
63127171569
63127171570

Finished the wiring on housing to retrofit a halogen equipped 128i with LCI xenons without coding. Looking like install day is this Sunday!

Today I used xHP flashtool to enable D/S gear display and lower the automatic downshift in manual mode from 23kmh to 15kmh.

Looking forward to when the new maps are released tomorrow

Washed the car off after a long trip this weekend and finished the interior mods with the Performance Pedals. Been meaning to put these on since I bought the car, glad I finally did!

Those pedals really do wonders for the overall look of the interior.

Yeah, thought so too! I was a little concerned that it might be kind of showy, but I think it is just enough to grab your attention without being over the top. Simple mod that makes a big difference, IMHO.

I hit a giant chunk of transfer truck tire that flew into my lane from a blowout directly in front of me a few nights ago at about 80mph. Damaged the front bumper, right side air ducts and splash shield underneath. My 1er was totaled a few years ago and rebuilt. The paint work wasn't the best from the repair. I've decided to go ahead and get the whole car resprayed in the same original color, Crimson Red, while the bumper is being changed. Also purchased new carbon front lip, rear diffuser, and spoiler. Having it all slapped on at once. I should essentially have a brand new ride in a week or so. Pretty stoked! I guess I'll have to slum it in my M3 until my lil Red Rocket is back on the road. haha!

Nice! Cheers for making the most of a wreck! I'll have mine back in a week or so with a bunch of new goodies

Got it ready for the next 64,000 miles

Actually a couple of weeks ago - new shocks (BMW OEM) and changed every fluid (oil, trans, coolant, brakes, diff and power steering) and filter. Also added Sprint Booster v3 and LUX LED corona rings. All work done by ACE Performance in Tewksbury, MA. Terrific guys who are knowledgeable and great to work with.

Today, ACE took me in on an emergency basis when my heater fan quit (same thing happened in my first 128 after ~70K miles). Showed up at 10:00 and picked up the car at 4:00!

I will never sell this car. The last of its kind: naturally-aspirated inline 6 and hydraulic power steering.

Did the water pump and tstat today. All in all a pretty straightforward job, but O my Lord that fucking top pump bolt! Finally had to loosen and push up the radiator fan to make some space for my left hand. Otto must have very small hands...

Took about 6 hours start to finish. Glad to have it done at ~64K tho: had been dreading it for awhile...

Broke down a 6ft tall bookshelf and stuffed it into the back of the car. The whole time I kept thinking, "why didn't you just bring the damn GTi"
