Headlight replacement

I recently had the left xenon headlight go out, and when I went to change it I found the plastic in the plug of the bulb had melted inside of the plug. A new bulb didn't fix it and I was wondering if there was any reason it would've melted in there before I just replace it with a new assembly to break soon after. I also found a cheaper TYC replacement assembly and was wondering if that would even be worth it or if I should just go with the valeo from ECS.
