I think Lexus is kind of an extension of the typical Toyota buyer that doesn't care about dynamics, style, or performance and places reliability above all else when purchasing a car. There's little doubt their cars while sober are reliable transportation with solid build quality.

Well, as long as they make fun to drive cars with manuals, I'll be around.

Wouldn't hurt if they found a better steering guy/gal. Really fell behind there.

I'm surprised how far down Acura are considering they are part of Honda. Same goes for Volvo. Although reliable, they are pretty boring.

I personally like the style of my IS when I had it but the fun factor and dynamic just isn't there.

Not shocked w/ Lexus being #1, great reliability and peace of mind ownership can easily bring a customer back, not to mention Lexus owners/buyers typically don't care for sportiness and value reliability/comfort over everything.

I've owned two BMW's and two Lexus vehicles. BMW's are more fun to drive, but seemed like I spent my weekends turning wrench's in my garage. Lexus cars are less fun to drive, but my weekends are free doing something other than constantly working on the car. BMW = sport luxury car. Lexus = Luxury sports car. I've sat in several of the newer BMW's and I'm not at all impressed, WAY too much plastic on the interior. By no means am I saying Lexus is better than BMW; they both have their pro's and con's. I would go as far as to say that the majority of Lexus owners are different breed and are mostly concerned with a quiet, smooth ride and as little maintenance as possible. This just happens to be where Lexus excels.

I am very surprised that Mercedes is so high. I dont really think of them as a brand with a passionate following. I thought for sure that BMW and Porsche would be way ahead of Mercedes.

Lets be honest here. Most people who buy bmw care about the badge and could care less about the dynamics or the performance. Ask a typical BMW driver (not M owners) if he or she knows what engine is in the car or the horse power/torque or the type of tires so on.
