Winter setup 335i --> 135i?
In a few weeks I'll be turning in my 2008 335i sport for a 2011 135i M Sport. I currently have the following dedicated winter wheel/tire setup for my 335i which I'm hoping will work fine for the 135i.
Front: BMW style 195 wheels. 18x8 (et 34) w/ Dunlop Winter Sport 3D 225/40. Rear: BMW style 195 wheels. 18x8.5 (et 37) w/ Dunlop Winter Sport 3D 225/40. I've been perfectly happy with this wheel/tire size setup for 3 years of New Hampshire winters, and I'm just hoping for confirmation by someone about whether they will fit on the 135i. Thanks in advance for the info. |

Stock is 18” x 7½” +47mm offset F / 18” x 8½” +49mm offset R.
You'll either need spacers and longer bolts, or just let the winter wheels go for sale and start over with something that will fit properly.

BTW, run the differences here to see what would be the effect of the 3er wheels on the 1er.

Excuse my ignorance on the subject, but are there concerns/drawbacks with using spacers and longer bolts? Should it be avoided, or is it no big deal? And, assuming it's ok to use, would someone like TireRack or BMW be able to specify and sell me the proper parts? |

you could sell the wheels and buy some that directly fit the 1er or just take the tires and put them on your stock wheels. I do this because I don't have space for a separate set of wheels.

Not without a lot of rubbing. The offsets on the 1 are much higher than on the 3. You'll be sticking out nearly an inch more.

Once again, thanks for the responses. I appreciate them all. Since yesterday, I've been trying to read up a bit to better understand the basic terminology concerning wheel setups between the 1 vs. 3.
I'm not going to force an issue that simply doesn't work, but I'm a little confused after reading a couple of the posts. One mentioned the need for spacers, and another said I'd be sticking out. I must be missing something? The two statements seem to contradict one another. From my own reading, I would tend to agree that the smaller offset number on my 335i wheels (34F,37R) would cause the wheel to stick out further than the standard 135i M Sport wheel which has an offset of 47F/49R. But, the difference in offset is 12 or 13 mm (only half an inch). Is that still too much to be acceptable? It doesn't seem like a lot, but I'm certainly no expert. Sorry for the wordy post. Just trying to understand. |

Sorry, I think I went the wrong way in my head...yes, they'll be sticking out more...so no, not a good fit.
Again, use the wheel / tire comparison machine link, comparing the fronts of both cars (wheel width and offset being key) and the rears of both cars. The results will be you things to measure, as it's quite detailed.

It usually is, but the standard 135i wheels stick out pretty far...you really can't got any further out.
