Btw... Dan@United has the BMW Performance rotors quite cheap right now. $262 for a pair. Its hard to beat that price.
Sorry Dackelone , I respect you but you're wrong. The one that was pictured is the 988 which is the rear. Which are dimpled.

You compared to your fronts which are drilled. For the drilled set, check this (the 986) which is the front set. You'll see they do have the holes.

See posts #12 and #13(my reply)...

I was referring to the REAR performance rotors which do not have holes, only dimples.

Performance front rotors HAVE holes.

i've had them on the car since june 2014 and no problems. did about 13 track days and still have life left. paired them with stoptech street pads and motul 600 fluid. they are two piece. i think i paid 150 delivered for the fronts and 80 delivered for the rears. the fronts are 2 piece. lets see how they hold up when i go to a more serious pad this year like pfc 08 or hawk dtc.

I purchased a set of the IAP/Dura front and rear drilled/dimpled and slotted rotors for my E88. Having had/have the genuine ones on my E82 the construction is identical as far as I know. I don't plan on tracking them and have only really had them on for a couple thousand kms so can't speak as to their durability yet but so far I'm super happy with them.

Would just getting the fronts done look strange on the car. My rears don't need brakes yet. Or can the rears be put on anyway without near pads?

Has anyone who installed them ever taken a few good picture ? I'm thinking of getting a set seeing how cheap they are, but I wonder if they are zinc coated as well so they dont rust on the hub and inside the holes right away. I know the OEM ones are.

Based on the summation of information in that article, I can't agree that the differences Affinia noted in their suit will be a negative for the people who want to run the Dura rotors... and it's from 2009

Affinia's suit seems to be more related to marketing. Dura was claiming to be providing an OE spec rotor, and they were undercutting Affinnia's price point, when in reality the Dura rotor varies from the OE spec'd rotors. Specifically, the Dura rotors are lighter and have larger cooling vanes than OE blanks that come on base cars. Basically, Dura was marketing the 2-piece performance rotors as OE equivalents for cars that came with solid, heavier, rotors from the factory. Dura should have been advertising them as performance rotors which shouldn't have been marketed to the masses as OE equivalents.

The potential failures Affinia claims may indeed be more likely than on an OE spec rotor, but I don't think anyone in this thread will be concerned about getting BMW performance rotors for less than OE blanks. The whole point is to benefit from that lightweight 2-piece design. I'd assume anyone buying the Dura rotors for the aforementioned benefits already understands that the riveted aluminum hat is less durable than a 1-piece design and the reduced mass may lead to stress cracking.... Lightweight also means less thermal mass.

The real issue is the metallergy claims, which don't seem to have been substantiated or the heart of the issue.

I got a set of the Dura rotors off Rock Auto and have been using them for nearly a year now. Just completed my second track weekend with them a couple days ago and have no issues at all. Smooth as the day I got them. Running Stoptech pads.

Just installed mine today. Here's a side by side shot of the performance Rotor vs Dura. Look identical, just slight differences because the drilled holes are filled with brake dust and worn down.

Are the DURA's 2 piece like factory with aluminum rotor hats or all one piece?

They have been pretty good overall. Main thing I hate, like what others have said is that it rusts a lot more than OEM. Should of painted it before I installed =\

Interesting - wonder if this is an indication of material quality or just that the OEMs have some sort of extra coating on them? Didn't look like they did...

I read some of the first gen brakes (early 07-08), had this issue. So maybe bmw started coating them after?

I have Dura on the rear right now. They do rust pretty bad. Just hit the top hat with some VHT high temp spray paint before installing if you can't handle the look...

i recently replaced my front rotors to the Dura's.

My front DURA hats are fine - they are Aluminum. I guess near the join to the Hat it could rust after the next winter months. But at the price these are and my daily driver needs, I may change them again when I do pads.
