135i Car Jack

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for a low profile car jack for a stock 135i. Just looking to use it for oil changes and basic maintenance. I've tried rhino ramps but they slid around too much for my liking.

Thanks.

I use a Harbor Freight, I think it is 3 ton, that isn't low profile. I roll the bimmer up on 1.5 inch thick ramps I cut from a scrap 2x4 so I can get the jack under it. I lift on the center front for an oil change and lower the car on jackstands on the sides.

Would you be able to link the one you have specially?

Also, do you require an adapter or anything between the jack and the car itself?

Be on the look out for coupons. Typically you can get the jack for much cheaper than what the website says. Just FYI.

No, I just use the jack directly on the jackpad.

We warned, you probably won't have the travel to jack the car all the way up to get it on 4 jack stands, it doesn't have enough travel in my experiences.

I use a 2 ton for that:

Thanks a lot.

Which one would you recommend for oil changes?

Am I the only one who read "135i car jack" and thought this was going to be a thread about being held up at gunpoint by a car thief?

I bought the following:

Its long enough to reach the front jack pad no problem.... The cheaper ones are shorter and you'll need your front on ramps or 2x4s for clearance.

I use the arcan low profile jack from Costco. Reminds me, I need to oil that sucker.

Cheap, strong, good travel (jack stand compatible), easy to use.

Only down side is that it weighs almost 110 pounds. Not a big deal.

I use Race Ramps and have had no trouble with sliding and a stock 135is has no trouble going up the ramps.

Harbor Freight jacks are crap. I had one that had fast lift and once I had the car up on jack stands, I couldn't get the car off them since the HF POS failed to raise. Viagra couldn't get it up. It leaked fluid all over the place. I had to go to Sears Hardware to get a new jack. The HF POS was only 2 years old.

I use the same jack and it's been solid for the last 4 yrs. If I want to jack up the entire front end, I jack up each side and put two bricks next to each other and a square 8 x8 piece of 3/4 inch plywood on top of the bricks, under the front tires. That's just high enough for my jack to reach the center jack point. Keep in mind I am on swift springs.

Since I removed my undertray I just push up on the bottom of the bumper and slide the jack in there. I'm on swifts as well. I will say I couldn't do that if I was still running my undertray.

Good to know. Just curious, why did you remove the under tray? What about the other pieces, like the wheel wells, transmission cover, don't they just flop around?
