Joe, sunroof is definitely an option. Go to Ausmotive, they had the full BMW internal document and have printed the full spec and option list and prices. Dealers are wrong, surprise surprise.

Can I ask what you are considering if not the M2?

I've had/still have two F80 M3s and F82 M4. So no it doesn't make sense.

Group buy for an M car? Cool!
Yeah the 2 series forum is pretty dead.

If you can get a discount on them then it's worth buying, but otherwise I wouldn't bother. Not cheap! I really wanted one but I don't overpay for cars and buying a RS3 with no contact at Audi would require me to overpay. I assume you have been watching the OzAudi thread on it. Man some of those guys have got a hard-on for that car. Claims of no useable rear seat room on a M135i/235i and crappy M3/4 ride compared to RS3? Really? I've driven it 3 times now, yes the engine is sensational and yes the interior craps all over M135i/M235i, but dynamically the car just isn't that special. Anyway to each their own. Still would buy one but just not for $100k.

Having drank the BMW coolade on 1Ms, twice, I've jumped ship.

When they release 300 cars and screw guys like Joe, Bimmer, Jaffa, et al with the only 100 cars coming then dump 300+ on the market I have had enough for now.

I've learnt with these pr1cks, don't jump early unless you wanna pay top money for the privilege, in the meantime I will cruise like an old C listening to a flat 6 3.8 screaming in my partially deaf ears.

Enjoy

There are as many people on OzAudi with a stiffy for the RS3 as there are for the M2. Discounts are available, I got a reasonable discount off one

I love a car that handles beautifully and only ever owned RWD cars, but IMO the noise of an N55 doesn't deliver without aftermarket work. That is a big component in daily enjoyment compared to a weekend in the hills.

Each to their own but I'm not convinced the M2 is a great buy if coming from a tuned 135i or 1M and you are expecting big differences.

Sounds ok to me dazza. It's no RS3 but nothing short of a V10 Lambo is imho.

Exhaust sounds good...sounds deeper on video but in real life don't know how it actually sounds.

Does anyone have an aftermarket system on their 1M in Sydney that I can listen to before choosing and buying one ? A lot people talks about the akra but that's a lot of money and the videos on YouTube are not convincing enough.

The akra sounds good actually in real life, I heard it on a members car which they now sold.

But from a performance view the stock pipe is just as good and sounds really nice once you start upping the boost with aftermarket turbos.

I just hate the tips on the stock pipe.

They ruined that with an additional sound track during the exhaust demo, I don't think that is an accurate representation.

Don't get me wrong, I'm excited to see one up close and will definitely go for a drive in one.

Official word from the dealers is they are not discounting that model. They have though, but swear the buyer to secrecy so no one's talking.

Well good on them then if they manage to sell without discounting, but looking at the number of cars starting to pile up on Carsales, I suspect this won't last very long at all!

Anyone know if you will be able to option the HK sound on the Pure Model? Love the HK in the 1er.

Is the HiFi system in the 2 any good?

It's annoying that we can't spec individual items. I would love to get a Pure and spec comfort access myself but you just can't.

I've specced a regular M2 with 6MT. Not sure if this is the right choice transmission wise yet as going back to MT was a NCO (so saves no money).

May end up going back to DCT, still have to decide.

A Pure + Harmon Karden and 6MT would have been a nice 'stripper' combo or a regular with manual seats.

I thought about doing the same too but thought better of it. DCT is worth $5k or so hence its very annoying that we can't order one with manual and save $5k. But it's ok, I've got other manual cars and DCT is good as a daily driver.

I had a RS3 spec up with sunroof and choice of colour. RRP was about $97 drive away and I managed to get $94 drive away. I must say the exhaust of the RS3 is intoxicating vs the 1M! The pop and crackle makes me giggle all the time! But it still does not feel as connected as the 1M.

But I like the fact that it is AWD especially when you WOT and there are no tyre slips! unlike the 1M even sometimes 3rd gear WOT tyre slips.
