Brake Oscillation. Rotor? Pad?

Recently got a 2013 135 with 80K.

Brakes had been done recently at a generic brake shop before I got it. Getting some brake oscillation at lighter braking levels now. If I hit them a little harder, it's much smoother.

I've seen here that warped rotors are rare. So that could then point to the possibility they weren't bedded. If that wasn't done properly, is there a remedy? Do the rotors need to be turned?

Could it be something else? I still have lots to learn, so no problem with getting an education.

Could be either poorly bedded, or even low quality rotors. Did they use OEM discs? Try re-bedding aggressively, meaning get the brakes real hot to see if you can re-transfer pad material to the disc. Just be very careful to not brake to a stop, keep the air moving over the brakes so you don't get a hot spot/extra deposit.

I've resigned myself to dealing with my cheap quality rotors (Dura 2-piece) - the metallurgy is crap, and when paired with slightly aggressive pads (Stoptech sport) I keep getting bad deposit build up. I can improve it by doing a re-bedding, but it comes back over a few days.
