Be sure to let the touch-up paint sit overnight, it shrinks considerably.

Has anyone tried using #3000 grit sandpaper to smooth the paint and clear coat for small chips? My company sells the abrasive to 3M and I know one application is for paint and clear coat polishing...maybe a body shop guy in the forum can comment (?). I will give this a try if I can get a hold of the 3M paper and provide all with an update. I know if this does not work well I will have to get the car professionally detailed.

Haven't tried that yet, but I need to. I used the clear coat that came with the BMW kit and it dried in a blob. It looks terrible. I should've used the Langka sealant instead.

I was too chicken to use the factory BMW paint and then wet sand/compound/polish. I debated trying that on the scratch but I didn't want to do some rookie wet sanding to my car!
Good luck with your repair!
Van, try Quixx on the scratch. I haven't used it myself yet, but I've heard and read great things about it.

As other people stated, it's all in your expectations re: Dr. Colorchip. If you're expecting perfection, you will be disappointed. If you're looking to minimize the extent of a chip from as close as about 1 ft away, you may be satisfied- I was satisfied with the result on my Jet Black paint.
