"Clanking" noise coming from the rear when pressing the brakes

As the title describes, I hear a weird "clanking" noise coming from the rear when pressing the brakes when I first start the car up or sometimes it happens at low speeds... It's hard to hear and I usually notice it when I'm near a wall so the sound can bounce back.

Some background: I changed the rear brakes 2 months back and this noise wasn't apparent then, but has been for the past month or so. I used OEM BMW rotors + Hawk pads. I never did change the parking brake or readjust after changing the rears, could that be it or does anyone have any ideas before I get back under there?

So it makes this noise when parked next to a wall on start up AND not moving? Then its something in your brake pads/calipers. The parking brake operates brake shoes inside the rotor. The hand brake is separate from the car's braking system.

Taking a wild guess I'd say your new brake pads are moving in the caliper. Or maybe they didn't have heat shields/pads to dampen pad noise. You can also use some ceramic brake pad lube on the caliper where it contacts the pad backing pad. You used new spring clips on the pads right ?

Or maybe it's as simple as a loose brake caliper bolt ?
