AMP in water -- Speakers now are terrible
Looking for any answers to this and if anyone else had similar issues.
So a couple months ago my speakers starting making this terrible screeching/static sound. Eventually it just went completely and i no longer had any sound out of the speakers. I looked into this and was lead to this AMP. I got to it and sure enough there it was sitting in 2 inches of water. i cleaned it out covered up the vent where I believe the water was coming from. It now has kept it dry. I purchased a new AMP and i will certainly NOT be putting it back in the same spot. Most likely next to the battery now. When i plugged it back in last night i got my sound back!!!! BUT come to hear the speakers sound absolutely terrible. My front two driver side, the bottom i have no sound and the top sounds low and crackly. The passenger side sounds the best of all but still crackling a little bit. My back two are both terrible. Driver side rear cracks constantly and the passenger side is iffy as well. So my questions is are all the speakers in fact blown and I will need to replace them all of could the AMP sitting in the water have affected something else as well. Any help would absolutely be sooooo very much appreciated as I want to try to figure things out before i take it somewhere blind. THANK YOU!!! |

its slim (but not impossible) that the speakers are blown. Id start first with checking the wiring to the amp (and check the connectors first). Are the wires oxidized or rusted from the amp sitting in water?
