Makes sense they’d use those engines in the E60. We didn’t get them in our market - including estates. Had the 525, 530, 550 and M5. We had plenty, plenty 335’s though.

At any rate great cars - drove and handled like a BMW before they went soft with the F generation.

Thought I'd (sadly) add my winter wheel setup. Also changed oil back to 5w-30 and put the original bumper back on with the fogs and headlight washers. I noticed something interesting with 3SIM recently with cooler temps. Second DISA valve previously opened at > 4000 rpm, but now seems to be opening in low 3k range. Anyone else notice that?

E39s are the best. No argument there. My buddy has a full m5 touring conversion. It’s stunning. The sound!!!

I do feel the e60/61 aged very very well considering how poorly they were received when they first came out. Even the lines of the new m5 (belt line, headlight eyebrows, etc) are very reminiscent of the e6x gen.

And after doing this turbo job, I wish I had the n52 in there. Would have saved a lot of time, money and trouble. but it kicks like a mule now!

It’s a nice contrast driving the 128 with low power, but lighter weight and sharper handling during the summer. And then hopping into the 535. Handles so well, but completely different driving experience. Heavier, but doesn’t drive like it. Suspension is plush, yet sporty. Want to upgrade the rear sway on it to get rid of some of the body roll. It’s just so much calmer. Except when you punch it. Haha

Happy to have it fully functioning for the NE winters. The 128 would have been more of a handful hauling the kids back and forth to school in the snow.

Very cool..

I swapped to an M5 steering box on my E39 540 which made a big difference with a tighter ratio on the recirculating ball setup. Also did the M5 rear sway - easy to oversteer and tricky in the rain. But the 530 M54 I had previous was probably my favorite car.

Agree the E60/1 aged well now that I see them. I love the F10 as it’s in my view a beautiful blend of the E39 and E60. While nice it just doesn’t drive quite like one.

Hence my E82 - to get back to that real BMW feel while keeping a 5er in the family.

As BMWs are becoming increasingly egregious in their design language, Bangle designs are really really starting to age well. Perfect balance of modern and classic BMW.

I'm even starting to like E65s a bit... Especially in B7 guise.

Here is my Black Friday purchase, aFePower magnum intake with oiled filter. Love the sound as it gives it a bit more bark. Didn't go too far in it yet to really see an improvement in the seat of the pants feel, maybe later I'll run around some more. It was a mostly easy install with the exception on the OEM coupler being an absolute bitch to take off. Was worried I was going to take the F'ing throttle body with it. Had next to no strength to do this thanks to a sweet, sweet case of food poisoning (or whatever) following Thanksgiving. As you can see one of the bolts wandered off into the nether regions of the abyss as I saw it disappear without making a sound.

In the nearish future, probably right after Christmas, rear toe links from Rogue or Bimmerworld. And maybe switch the front M3 tension arm (I think, the front or upper one) bushings to sphericals.

I love dropping a screw/nut down into the abyss, especially when the job is 99% completed. This drives me insane.
Was the black friday deal an actual deal, or did you just want to spend some $$?

maybe it was a fault with installation process
but, as RD replied to my email, "they got one of their cars with the same story after 5k km, and another run over 50k with excellent condition"...

Battery died today. Quick trip to Costco to replace. Battery was only 7 years old according to date code.

Yeah it was a BF deal. Normally $470~ish. This was $400.40 plus free shipping. Also the missing screw was an off-the-shelf item of any Home Depot/ACE/Lowes, so I've already remedied my OCD over it being gone.

Stock Turbo failed. Probably because of the GFB diverter valve I recently installed.
My theory is that the faster spool, sudden RPM change, and lack of pressure release kills turbos. Anyone else try a GFB?
I've received about 2500€ in new parts, might also do the oil pan gasket at the same time.

New Evo1 Wagner Intercooler

My wallet hurts.

Put it in hibernation last week. But got 9,500 miles of blissful driving this year! Typically I average around 8k.

7 years is pretty good for a battery....that said, I replaced mine in 2022 and it was original from 2008 lol. It wasn't even having issues cranking, just kept forgetting the time and with the winter coming (New England) I decided to replace it. Better safe than sorry.

I used to be a more active member in this thread but have not been here for a couple of years. There was a member that wrapped his 1'er yellow and then changed it for another color. Just wondering if you are still here.

I have an E88 and I want to wrap it, just looking for some advice, diy tips and I have questions on a couple of the panels (around the windshield and around the back of the roof between the trunk and the roof.)

What are the difficult parts, can the bumper be wrapped in one or does it need inlays etc....that kind of thing.

Thanks in advance !

By the way....this color... :-) It's currently cashmere silver.
