A giubo (this is the correct spelling--contraction of an Italian guy's name) is not a CV or universal joint.

Yes I appreciate that (now I've looked up Giubo ) , but the thread I linked is about the "flexible disc" - see my little post #9 in that thread.

It looks to me as though we're talking about the same thing?

Well, I think we are talking about the flex joint at the junction of trans and drive shaft; the recall you mention would not have referred to that as a CV joint which should be in reference to the joints in the rear axles. There is also a universal joint towards the rear of the drive shaft.
