Hello.

The roof is made by Revozport. There’s two versions. A replacement roof panel, or, just a lay over skin. Just google “revozport e82” or something like that.

The headliner is oem BMW for a non-sunroof car.

It has begun

De-trimming today.

Headliner is down. I’m ready for glass removal. Once the glass is out I’ll pull the rear bumper, tail lights, side skirts, etc.

Most stuff available on ECS... Body panels are ~ $2300 total not too bad.

Glass out

Had the glass removed this week. Bradley, (my glass guy) was able to remove all of it without damaging any glass or weatherstripping. Which is a sigh of relief.

More disassembly

Trunk off. Rear deck area cleared, battery tub, bumper, etc off. Still more stuff to remove still. This was just the point where I left off Saturday evening.

Getting close to cut time.

No disassemble!

Roof is off! Making those first cuts was pretty nerve wracking.

Save the tabs!

See these tabs? They hold the roof rail molding in place. The “standard” procedure when doing a carbon roof on these bmw’s is to remove the entire roof panel along with these tabs. This necessitates either gluing or double-stick taping the rail moldings back on instead of using the proper clips. I call bullshit. The revozport roof is notched for these tabs. Sure, it’s more work to retain them. But, it’s MY car. So, my plan is to keep them exactly where they belong. These pics are just where I stopped for the night. There’s more to do here.

More tab deets

So, these tabs become part of the roof rail now. They are in the exact same position as factory. I didn’t even disturb the seam sealer behind them until after they were welded into place.

I will clearance the carbon roof for the tiny spot welds if necessary.

This is still in progress. It will look a lot cleaner before I glue the roof on.

Saturday’s happenings

Got busy for a bit today. Pretty much finished preparing for the new roof. All tabs welded. All spot welds smoothed out. Just waiting on the new roof bow. Once that’s here and welded in, I can get the roof bonded on and then move on to the quarter panels.

Wheelhouses are heeeere!

Decided to just do the real deal 1M outer wheelhouses. It’ll actually be less work than modding the stockers and will yield more tire clearance. Which is one of the primary goals after all...

No, not all of it

So, to get the outer wheelhouses, you’ve gotta buy pretty much the entire inner structure. I’ll only be using the outermost section tho. it’s only money...
