It's OEM. However I'm pretty sure BMW uses Bosch to manufacture these pumps for them.

Is this the new pump that BMW sent out recently to dealers, claiming no more failures? Because those ones still fail.
Or is this thing a newer design?

I know I'm jumping the gun here, but hopefully when this new pump proves to be the end-fix to the HPFP problem we'll eventually be allowed to have our 881s replaced without first having to experience any problems.

I think a recall might be wishful thinking, but if this new one actually fixes the issue, I'll be a lot less pissed off about changing the pump once with a good one than I would be about changing it several times with a questionable one. |

Did BMW provide more information about the new pump saying that this is the fix over the old pump?

I pray to the fuel pump gods.
Oh gods of petrol, please allow this sacrificial offering, the 881; to be pleasant in your eyes. Deliver to us a pump worth a damn, and no more CEL's. Amen.

This is potentially GREAT news, the HPFP was my biggest concern with my 2010 135i, frankly I feel better even knowing they are still very actively pursuing the issue. WHich I think it's safe to presume, this new part is indicative of. I just wish my 135i had this part, but alas, it was built in October 2009. I might have to stomach a failure before I get this part.

My pump is failing, I wonder how long will it take for this pump to trickle down to our local dealerships... and what are those dealerships gonna do with the older version pumps? Are they gonna return it to BMW? or just install old pumps to cars until their inventory is gone?

I think you guys may be getting excited a little too soon with this thing. We all thought the 881 pump was going to correct this, and it seems like it was worse if anything.
I hate to sound negative about it, but it's going on 4 years now that they've known about this issue, and I just don't have a lot of confidence that the fuel pump is even the real issue. |

Also, we have no clue as what actually causes the pump the fail, it could be the pump, or bad gas/additives, heat, driving habits, etc... But seems like BMW believe is the pump, that's why there are 3 gens of pumps already. I mean really, the only thing we can do is hope BMW figured a cheap way for them to fix this, or else, we'll be back to replacing pumps every 1000miles. Sounds grim, I know, but what else could we do? The CP-E pump got Zero news lately, I guess they're busy working on the intercooler and oil cooler, which makes sense. I mean, it'll be tough for a company to invest a lot of money to R&D a product when they got bashed just talking about working on a solution... |
