Very informative and helpful review. Because of this I get more phone calls about the product! Thank you for your referrals and help!

What do you mean by black line tail lights? I have those red lines that go through mine, is there something else cool I can do with that?
For the first 1er hatches... they only had regular tail lamps illuminated by regualr light bulbs. Then, BMW went the the three rows of LED's like on our (e82/e88)cars. That was their LCI for the 1er hatch - the new LED tail lights. Then... BMW offered the "Black Lines" (BMW's brand name for them) which are the same LED rear tail lights for the hatches... but with a slight "smoke-out" or "Black" look to them.

When guys with the early pre-LCI hatches install the newer rear LEDs... it causes some error codes. "Coding" gets rids of those codes. Also... the new coding can turn off the old style bulbs and only use the LEDs on the new tail lights. THIS is what all the hatch guys want.

They also like to have the US DRL lights and to get rid of the seatbelt gong. There are a lot of cool things this coding stuff can do. I am just starting to find this out now.

I must say, I really like my (M3 style) digital speedo. I have now a: "V = 127 kph" (for exaple) telling me the car's actual speed. When my speedo reads 155mph/250 kph... my V = says 240 kph - same as my TomTom reports my true speed. Its dead on this digital speedometer.

I also like the looks of my brighter Angel Eyes.

I found this thread on the 1er Forum... about the "Black Lines".

http://www.salesafter.eu/product_inf...ten--high.html

Looks like there are two version for the rear lights on the Hatch. Well... ok three if you count the Black Line non-LED ones! The "low" ones look OE like to me. The "high" ones look to have the spacing kind of "high" or apart on the tail light lens.

Black Line... with normal bulbs...

LED tail lights...

"Low" or OE LCI look...

"high"...

The High version is actually for cars with xenon only, but you can tap the license number light. The low version doesn't have these led's

And they look just great
