I had my 2008 261 'M' wheels refinished
After years of self-induced occasional curbside parking incidents, I decided to bite the bullet and take them to a local high end shop for refinishing. I am pleased with the results, it wasn't inexpensive, but still - about 1/3 the cost of new replacement 261's which list for about $450 USD - $500 USD (front and rear) factoring in shipping costs. I know you can get other wheels for less money, but then they wouldn't be 261's. Personal choice.
They offered Hyper-silver - but the cost would have been about 40% higher, so I chose their recommended Silver No. 6 option. Now I just have to stay away from curbs!

I had the same thing done to my 261 wheels. But it wasn't from me curb rashing them. It was from Costco screwing them up. I went to my dealer that has a guy who does refinishing and mine turned out similar to yours. There are some spots I can tell there was some repair work done but you have to really look for it and know a repair was done. Costco (or more specifically their insurance) ended up paying about $750 for all 4 wheels to be refinished.

Yep, on my cars with nice wheels - two BMWs and a C5 Corvette - whenever I'm in a parking lot or going through the horror of parallel parking, I just keep repeating to myself, "I am not going to curb these wheels. I am not going to curb these wheels."
Newest wheels - Apex ARC-8s as my winter/all-season wheels on Little Red (128i):

I bought used Apex wheels from another member on this forum. All 4 had curb rash and 1 had about 1/2" crack on the inner rim. But I only paid less than 1/2 of of full retail and just bought a new 1. Thus, I'm not really afraid of the curbs, but still try not to rub 'em. I really want to someday take the 313's to get refurbished someday, but still other mods to I want to do...like have M3 RSFB installed...and others.

Looks great. 261's absolutely rock on this car.
