GIAC powered Time Attack 135i racecars kick off the 2012 season with dominance!
The weekend of April 21st, 2012 marked the season opener for the 2012 Global Time Attack season, and Berk Technology, with driver Carl Rydquist at the helm, was there to continue their streak of victories. Not to be outdone, Evolution Racewerks and VJ Mirzayan were also there in the hunt for their first victory of the Time Attack season in the Street RWD. Also utilizing GIAC software, Evolution Racewerks is currently running a Stage 2 test file boosting to 18 psi! The two 135s battled it out in the street RWD class for first and second place. At the end of the day, Berk Technology came out with the victory and a new class record time of 1:56:591 on street tires. Evolution Racewerks wasn’t far behind with a 1:57:438. With a new set of R compound tires at their disposal, Berk decided to step into the Limited RWD class to see just what they could do with proper rubber on the car. In typical Berk Technology fashion, the GIAC Stage 2 135i laid down another class record with a time of 1:52:487, beating the second place contender by over 2 seconds. Berk Technology has now been running GIAC software for four seasons, on the original OEM motor. With reports of consistent performance in both cold and warm weather, Berk was able to remain undefeated in the 2011 season. Further, with no re-calibration since the original tune, GIAC was able to deliver reliable performance right from the initial software upgrade! Congratulations to Evolution Racewerks and Berk Technology, and GIAC looks forward to continued dominance throughout the 2012 racing season! |

Here are a few more pictures of the car with the previous decals. These were taken at the 2011 MotoIQ Pacific Touring Car Championship races at Firebird Raceway and Auto Club Speedway. The Berk Technologies 135i finished first in both of these races, while competing in the Tuner Over class!

Impressive! Always cool to see how the Berk car's been evolving. The incarnation I have on a poster in my bedroom looks NOTHING like it does now
And are the r compound tires you used in the limited class the supposedly crazy new ones from Hankook?

Yes, the Berk Technology car is running Hankook tires. For the Street RWD class, the car was equipped with the Ventus RS3. When the car stepped up to the Limited RWD class, the team equipped it with the Hankoook Ventus TD.
