Wheel Bearing out??
Anyone experience a bad wheel bearing yet? When I am going approx. 10-20 mph and turn right or left, there is a fairly loud humm, and slight vibration which can be felt through the steering wheel. To me it sounds like a bad wheel bearing. (tires are near new w/ only 5K mostly hwy miles). Also, I have noticed grease spray on the right side of the car after driving. Any thoughts before I take it to the dealer. (car has 26K miles and still under warr.)
TIA

Do slalom type maneuver from one side to the other and see if the pitch changes. Usually a bad bearing will show up here and it will be louder on the side with the weight on it. That being said it can also be a tire cord or needing rotation and the grease? Never really seen a bearing throw much grease but it is possible . Vibration felt through the steering wheel is almost always the front end, feel in the seat rear end. These are just diagnostic guidelines everything reserves the right to not follow any rules.

Thanks for the feedback. It kinda feels like bad tires, as I've dealt with loud tire before, but it's the vibration/hum felt through the steering wheel that is weird...and the grease...IDK??

Iv never heard of a wheel bearing actually leaking grease out onto wheels before but I can see axles doing so. You may want to double check with the dealership.

Thanks Charles, Kinda what was thinking on the grease...as it is a heavy grease, same as used for zerk lubrication, or axle lube.
