I have seen it in person and it is a very attractive feature.

I am going to order both, use the vented most of the time and when it rains I will use the closed and for the track I will just take them out.

If you're going to definitely paint the hood anyway, is there a reason to get the carbon finish over the VAAC (not thinking of weight savings here- I'm only getting the hood for looks). Maybe the VAAC is actually better for painting?

I thought the same thing but weight savings is an added bonus and for a few $$$ more i may as well get the best bang for my buck...

Doesn't the single sided carbon just add a layer of carbon the the VAAC though?

No, that is not correct. Their are essentially 2 parts to a hood. The bottom and the upper part. In single sided, the entire top part is constructed of carbon fiber, and the bottom is VACC - hence why it is significantly lighter than VACC.

You dont want the VACC, the prep work required to paint it will total more than the carbon and it wont look as nice no matter how much prep you put into it. Get the carbon

Done and done. Ordered the iCS style hood and a cf spoiler. Going to paint the hood white and leave the vents and the spoiler black. I think white with the black accents will look great!

Are you sure that VACC requires more prep work to paint over?

My main reasons for going towards VACC is because it is cheaper, I'm doing this for looks only, and carbon fiber hoods here are illegal in Australia because they can shatter and spleen through the windscreen in an accident. If I get pulled over my a cop, a light-weight carbon fiber hood would be a give-away for a defect too.

How would they know if it is cf?

Can they make you open your hood?

To answer your question I am 100% positive

Hi guys!

We have the pictures from the shoot, but we can't post them just yet. We'll explain later (and it's a VERY good reason )

Hoods and trunks are going well! Due to the move to our new facility, the last 3 weeks have been complete and utter insanity. The network guys, the furniture people, the moving company, power and light - anything that could go wrong did! A 4-5 day move turned into a 3-4 week move

Anywho, we've been playing catchup ever since, and enjoying our new home. The hoods and trunks are about a 1-2 weeks behind schedule, but that is all I'm confident it wont be more, but probably less.

Everything has turned out great so far, can't wait to get these out to you guys!

In the mean time, let's play a little game... it's called "Guess the Part"

Actually, I'd settle for a dam 3rd brake light lens that doesn't keep breaking on me -- ugh! But that is a different rant for a different thread.
